About this Cook
I am a self taught cook who is fearless in the kitchen (with the exception of fish). I have been living on a tight budget since I began nursing school and I have become a pro at putting things together that one might not always think would work. I am also a really bad chocoholic.
My favorite things to cook
I love to play with pastas, rich sauces, sausages, and meats. Oh and a few veggies for colour. When it comes to baking I love to make cookies that are fattening and wonderful. I don't believe in cakes without frosting and I do believe that cupcakes are little gifts from the kitchen God's.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother has handed me down her buttermilk pie recipe and that is always a favourite anywhere I bring it. From my mother I have begged for her secret to chocolate chip cookies. She won't tell me. She just uses the Nestle Toll House recipe but hers are like no others I have ever tasted. I will get it one day my little pretty!
My cooking triumphs
I had a pot luck I needed to bring something to and all I had to my name at that time was a bunch of top ramen noodles, ground beef, lemons from the tree out back and frozen veggies. After the party I was asked several times for the recipe. They couldn't believe it.
My cooking tragedies
Fish, Fish, and Fish. Fish are not my friends in the kitchen. I make a killer salmon patty from fresh salmon, but keep the rest away from me I will turn them into something unrecognizable.

Best Ever Popcorn Balls
First time making popcorn balls and they were a total success. It was fun getting sticky hands and chasing the kiddo around the house. This recipe is super sweet which is the reason for the four stars. But if you love over the top sweet you would rate these little suckers a five. I remember as a kid getting really burned from the mixture my mom used and I have never wanted to try this with my own kid because of that. This mixture cools pretty quickly and doesn't have the hard crack candy temperature to dabble with.

Pumpkin Cheesecake Bars
Everyone at my house really liked these. I think next time I will adjust the recipe to include the pumpkin pie spice in the pumpkin mixutre to break up the condensed milk flavour that runs through the pumpkin portion of this recipe. Very good taste overall.

Cream of Asparagus Soup I
I doubled this recipe and it turned out excellent. I omitted the soy sauce because I didn't have any. This soup is excellent. Sure to become one of my family cold weather favourites.
