About this Cook
I am a 21 year old senior at Auburn University majoring in Psychology. I plan to apply for graduae school to get my Master's in Child and School Psychology after graduating. I am a southern girl who loves southern food, but also trying different things! I love to cook/bake for my family, my , and doing fun things for my little cousins and kids at church. I have a family full of terrific southern cooks, but didn't really start too much until about 3 years ago after high school. I've been baking with my grandmom for as long as I can remember - it's mandatory to have a sweet tooth in this family!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake homemade cookies from scratch. My family raves over my white chocolate chip, macadamia nut, cranberry sugar cookies. I love cooking with dried cranberries. I also do homemade candies and breads. I've just recently started trying slow cooker recipes to be able to come home to a cooked meal after long days of classes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmom and great-aunt grew up eating homemade gingerbread, and I love to bake it. For the past 4 years, me and my grandmom have been in the kitchen during Christmas baking homemade gingerbread men, in addition to all the other Christmas candies! We also do turkey dressing together. In the summertime, we make a different homeade ice cream each week. I'm a chocolate lover, but I'm also a Georgia girl, and you just simply can not beat homemade peach ice cream with fresh Georgia peaches!
My cooking triumphs
Several things... Basically, anything my family and friends enjoy! I also love it when I do something homemade from scratch that turns out right! I also made the 'World's Best Lasagna' from the site for my family when they came down to visit. I was so proud of myself! When I make something that I've never done before that turns out good, my mom's response is usually "Wow, LB- you're domesticated! I didn't know you had it in you!" Just joking, but it still makes me feel good. I took the 'Peanut Butter Cup Cookies' to my cousin's 5th birthday party. I made about 75, and not one was left! My family kept asking which bakery I bought them at. I just smiled and said, "Well, I bought the ingredients at so-and-so.." :D
My cooking tragedies
My friend's Granny makes amazing homemade biscuits, which she taught me how to make. I decided to make them at my grandmother's for her and somehow ended up using corn meal instead of flour! At least I'm always the first one to laugh at myself for my goofs!

World's Best Lasagna
Wow! Really good! I made this for my family, who were coming to visit on Saturday. The only problem was that I was doing volunteer work at 6 am that day and they were coming for lunch! So I made and assembled it Friday night and just baked it Saturday. I think it helped the flavors mix, because it was great! None left! I also used the no-bake noodles and it turned out fine. This was a little time consuming, but I had so much fun making it! It was worth the effort! I have no desire to buy it frozen again, and I don't think my family does either!

Bread Pudding II
This was my first time every making or tasting bread pudding. It was very yummy, and made my condo smell great! After the 45 minutes, I took it out and sprinkled some extra cinnamon/sugar mixture on top and baked for another 10 minutes or so. I think next time I will use an extra slice or two of bread. Overall, great recipe!

Baby Blue Punch
I gave this to my future mother-in-law to make for my future sister-in-law last weekend for her baby shower. (my wedding is way in the future!) It was a big hit! I think there was only a cup or two left. The mom-to-be really liked it, too, because she loves rubber duckies! Great flavor and very pretty color for presentation!
