Chicken and Broccoli Braid

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2006
My family loved this recipe. I followed it exactly, except for the dill and the dough directons. I reduced the amount to 1/2 tsp. I like dill, but not love it! And for the braid, I cut the strips AFTER I placed the chicen on the dough, not before, as directed in the recipe. See my photo with the recipe too!

Thought if was very doughy tasting. I like my quiche with a lighter, fluffy filling and flaky crust.

Gooey Butter Cake IV

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2002
We're on the right track here, but anyone who enjoys the real butter cake recipe will find this one overcooked. Where is the "goo"? 18 minutes may be too long. It makes 2 large pans -- why not put in a 9 x 13" pan?? The recipe calls for one TBSP. of vanilla extract under ingredients, but only 1 tsp. of vanilla in the text, which one is it?? Not as expected for the amount of time and effort.

Baby Blue Punch

Reviewed: May 1, 2006
Good flavor with the kids. I floated a rubber duck in the punch, as shown in the other photo for this recipe. The other photo also has a more realistic color, my punch was much darker the ice cream floated the whole time. I omitted the sugar entirely due to other's comments. I don't think it was needed with the soda and cranberry juice already sweetened. A single recipe was perfect. Thanks for the great idea, the rubber duckie was also a conversation piece.

Coconut Ambrosia Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2010
I've been making this for years. Also tastes great with a container of pina colada or pineapple yogurt in place of the milk. Adds a bit of tangy smoothie flavor.

Peppered Bacon and Tomato Linguine

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2002
Fantastic combination of flavors. If you don't have pepper bacon, regular would also work. Everyone in my family enjoyed this easy and delicious pasta recipe.

Cherry Chicken Lettuce Wraps

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2002
These were very healthy and delicious. Butter lettuce would have worked better. I added extra garlic and cayenne pepper for more kick! Leftovers kept well in refrigerator.

Pasta Fagioli Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2009
Get ready for lots of soup--this recipe makes tons. I omitted the bacon and subbed frozen for canned spinach and added okra. The kids didn't like the spinach in the soup, even though they like it sauteed.

Cream Cheese Penguins

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2006
Very high cute factor here! I made them for my son's school project. Half ate, half didn't. They were a bit time consuming, but perfect for his penguin themed book report.

Fruit Pizza with White Chocolate

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2006
Much too sweet! I like the recipe, but the white chocolate makes it too sweet and thick for my taste.

White Chili I

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2003
Very good. Would probably add a bit more chicken broth next time, I like my chili more liquidy. Otherwise would make again, possibly adding fresh cilantro.

Chocolate Brittle Surprise

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2002
Had these for tea at a nearby bed and breakfast. Don't make the mistake I made, added one pound instead of one cup of butter. You only need two sticks. A little bit goes a long way.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2001
Excellent! You really have gotta make these. Couldn't be easier. You could even add nut/raisins in the brown sugar filling. The icing is the best. I've never had a real "cinnabon" but I can't see how it could even compare!! Very easy, my kids helped rolling, cutting and eating.

Irish Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2010
Used bone-in breasts and baby carrots as a substitute. Recipe doesn't state to peel the potatoes, I think I would prefer this. My son doesn't like peas, so left them out. Also, to save time I used store bought refrigerated biscuits with similar/same result.

Irish Cream Bundt Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2010
My family polished this off in two days flat. I thought the Irish Cream flavor was weak, I prefer the Rum Cake recipe made with rum instead.

Moussaka

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2008
This was great. Use lamb instead of beef for more authentic flavor. I doubled the spices, including the garlic, and baked, instead of fried, the eggplant, as other reviewers suggested. Makes a lot of bechamel sauce, OK with me.

Chunky Cheesecake Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2007
I don't know where to begin, I had so many problems with this recipe. First, I didn't have an 8x8 pan, so I made them in a 9x9 pan. I didn't have enough chocolate batter to put the top layer over the cheesecake. I didn't think this would matter and turned out it didn't. Then the chocolate chips never melted in the batter, so you are biting into chip-sized chunks of chocolate in almost every bite. In addition, the brownie batter is so dry, tasteless, and crumbly, that even my kids didn't eat them and you know that is a big problem if they won't eat something chocolate. I recommend refrigerating them for the cheesecake, but I had to throw most of them away.

Margarita Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2006
Very good pie, similar to key lime but with a salty pretzel crust and fluffier filling due to the cool whip. I like the idea of freezing it like another reviewer suggested--Good Idea I will have to try this! Kids loved it without the tequila.
