Chewiest Brownies

Reviewed: May 27, 2011
This is exactly what I was looking for! I did cut back to 3/4 cups of cocoa powder though. I used all organic ingredients so maybe that's why I thought it seemed like enough cocoa at 3/4. I added it 1/4 a time. These were the best chewie brownies ever! I don't like cakey brownies, if I wanted cake I would make a cake! These are the best! Thank you so much for this recipe : )

The Best Banana Bread

Reviewed: May 2, 2011
AWESOME bread! I used organic butter instead of margerine though. Actually, I used ALL organic ingredients. Unrefined organic sugar and all it was the best banana bread ever. I also threw in a few Pecans and did a crumb top, it was evil in the words of my boyfriend lol.

Swiss Chard with Garbanzo Beans and Fresh Tomatoes

Reviewed: May 2, 2011
This was Amazing! I did add a lot of garlic, about 5 cloves, and extra garbanzo's. I also used rainbow swiss chard instead of red. I replaced the Olive oil with Coconut oil too. I steamed my veggies as well, except the beans. For the beans I used dried and cooked them ahead of time as they do take awhile. Then I combined it all together on the stove top in a pan with the coconut oil and garlic and tomato just until hot. I will certainly make this again : )

Turkey Avocado Sandwiches

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2010
I make this a lot. Not this exact recipe, but really close. I just use turkey, Tomatoes, Avocado and Basil. The basil gives it a lot of flavor, usually I mash my avocado and spread it onto my bread like you would mayo, only way thicker. It's very healthy this way.

Pennsylvania Coal Region Barbecue

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2010
Good stuff. This is the same recipe my mom always made. I am from PA. LOL. I think she used to put a dash of Worcestershire sauce in it though also. I never used to be crazy about it when I was a child, but I do get cravings for it sometimes now that I'm older. Sometimes I throw pepper pieces into the meat along w the onion and that's really good too, or chopped tomato pieces. If you're having company and want to make a lot, you can put it in the slow cooker after you brown and drain the beef. You can keep it on low for hours. And, it stays moist as long as your guests don't leave the lid off of the slow cooker! I have added honey instead of sugar before also, and that was good as well.

Pizza Dough III

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2010
This is a great recipe. I roll my dough w a rolling pin and a little extra flour after flatening the dough ball w my hands first on a sheet of aluminum foil that's lightly floured, then I flip it on to my pizza pan wich is sprinkled w cornmeal. Since I can never get any of my recipes posted on here, here's the recipe I use after trying alot of diff methods... I use 4 cups of bread flour, 1 and 1/2 warm water 115F, 2 1/4 tsp of yeast and 1 1/2 salt. I only use a drizzling of olive oil and honey and garlic powder. I use the method of putting the warm water in a bowl then adding yeast to that and I add the honey then. Cover for 10-15 minutes. add flour 1 cup at a time, when I add the first cup, I use a wire wisk and this is when I add the salt, oil and garlic powder. Add the remaining flour 1 cup at a time, mixing w spoon. When you add the fourth cup time to get your hands in there! knead on counter till smooth and stretchy. You might need to add a little more flour, you'll know it's ready when you can make a dough ball w out it sticking to your hands, but make sure it's just enough, not too much! then i put the dough ball in another bowl thats rubbed w olive oil. Let rise for an hour and a half or so. And IDK if it's my oven, but Ihave trouble getting the bottom crispy so I have been baking my pizzas on the bottom rack at 425F and they are turning out perfect! I bake for about 9 minutes.

Salmon Dill Croissants

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2009
This tasted great on buttery croissants! I Used double the amount of salmon called for, and i still thought it could have used a little more. Also I added more onion than it called for and just chopped instead of grated. I skipped the garlic, used alot of fresh dill, some onion salt, and a dash of worcestershire sauce. I also left out the liquid smoke.

Sour Cream Coffee Cake III

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2009
Cake came out fantastic. Super moist. I was looking for a recipe like this for a long time because my mom used to make a cake similar, but in a smaller pan, and she didn't fill the cake w topping, she just put it on top. I have to admit, this might even be a little better than her recipe. To spread the 2nd layer of batter I dropped lumps of batter into pan and spread carefuly to other clumps as not to disrupt the crumb on the first layer. I used a spatula w butter on it to sort of pull it to the next clumps and to the sides. This is a very thick batter as was the recipe that I am used to. Will make this again and again...and again! Thanks for a wonderful recipe!

Mexican Cucumber Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2009
Great recipe! I made a few additions/changes to suit our personal tastes though. I added 1/2 a small red onion, chopped, doubled the vinegar, used fresh plum tomatoes rather than the stewed, fresh cilantro rather than dried, and fresh sweet corn(used a can of white kernal corn once also and was almost as good) also a splash of lime juice. All veggies diced to about the size of corn kernals. We eat this w tortilla chips like a fresh garden salsa.

Cookie That Thinks It's a Brownie

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2008
I have been looking for a recipe like this for a long time. I didn't have 12 squares of baker choc, only had 8, so I cut the rcipe in half best I could, except I didn't have walnuts, so I put a sprinkling more of flour in the dough. I had to try this recipe, even with all the mixed reviews my dough turned out perfect, i think alot of the trick is to really fold in the flour mixture, and let it set. Also be sure to use baker semi sweet squares, and butter, not margerine. Since I halved the recipe, I used 1 large egg. The origianal recipe calls for 3 normal size eggs. I left the dough set at room temp 5 mins then stuck it in freezer for 5 more. I spooned the dough onto the greases/floured cookie sheet in 1" balls trying not to touch the dough too much, baked for 7 minutes....the cookies come out looking like the dough balls I put in..So, those of you who got flat cookies must have done something wrong. My nexy batch I pressed the dough balls down a little...and they turned out perfect. these are perfect little fudgey brownie bites for your chocolate cravings!
