Pretty Chicken Marinade

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2012
I made this today, being a little apprehensive with the sheer amounts of soy sauce and liquid smoke. However, hubby & I absolutely loved our chicken!!! I think this will go well on any meat-pork, chicken, fish, even beef! The only think I did different was use horseradish mustard. We marinated it for 5 hours and it could have gone even overnight. We'll definitely be using this recipe A LOT!!! Thank you for the recipe!

Black Forest Oatmeal Cookies

YOU HAVE TO TRY THESE!!! I had to improvise because I didn't have everything, but these are AMAZING cookies. I used dried cranberries instead of cherries, chopped walnuts instead of almonds, and 1/2 cup of butter with 1/2 cup of crisco because I didn't have butter flavored crisco. I used 6 ounces of milk chocolate chips because I didn't have the semisweet bar.

NILLA Tiramisu Cookie Balls

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2011
I give them a 4 star rating as they are, but a 5 star if you up the Cafe Vienna. Otherwise, they just don't pack the punch of tiramisu. These taste better if you add an extra tablespoon of Cafe Vienna to the 'dough' and another extra tablespoon of Cafe Vienna to the chocolate. I didn't feel like drizzling the chocolate over the white chocolate, so I just mixed the two chocolates in together.

Regina (Queen's Biscuit)

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2011
My hubby and I love them, so I made a batch for him for Valentine's Day! They're good as is, but I used cream instead of milk this time and switched out half the shortening with butter. They are so good this way! They don't expand very much at all, so you can put quite a few on the cookie sheet. To save yourself time, put about 1/4 of the dough at a time in a ziploc bag and nip the corner, twist the bag opening to make it into a pastry bag then squeeze out to the desired length directly on to the sesame seeds, using a butter knife to cut it. Then just flip the cookie over as you place it on your parchment paper and pop them in the oven. It saves a ton of time and your hands don't get all gooey!

Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2011
Sometimes I add a touch of garlic powder (about 1/4 tsp)or some mustard for a change. I also use Panko breadcrumbs on top and then spray it with butter flavored Crisco spray. It's easier and we love the extra crunchy top! It's just so good!

Yum Yum Green Beans

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2011
This is delicious on its own, but I thought it was better the second time I made it because I added a clove of minced garlic to the onion. I also use frozen green beans, not canned. If you have any leftover diced potatoes, be sure to toss them in, they are delicious!

Mom's Dill Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2011
I've been trying to find the recipe that is similar to the deli salad I get from Kroger. This is pretty close, but I had to make some changes. I had to use russets, as it was all I had. It was okay, but I'll defnitely use red or yukon gold potatoes next time because the waxy potatoes hold up better. I also upped the sour cream to equal the mayo. I think I'll cut back on the mayo next time because it was way to mayo-tasting. I added about 4 cloves of minced garlic, and I used a LOT more dill weed. I also drizzled a lot of olive oil in it to give it that similar taste to Kroger's. I forgot the green onions, but I have lots left, so I'm definitely going to add it to the salad. I might even try adding a little celery seed like another reviewer suggested. Hubby actually likes this version a lot more than Kroger's version! Thanks for the recipe!

Spaghetti Salad

Reviewed: May 30, 2011
This is good, but I don't like the dressing settling on the bottom, so I used rotini pasta instead. Sometimes I use mozzarella, but most of the time I used grated parmesan cheese. I don't like the texture shredded cheese gets after it's been sitting in dressing. It's also good without the pepperoni, and I've also used cubed ham in it. It's really versatile!

I loved the fruity tang that the cranberry sauce gave the meat. Thanks for sharing the recipe because I wouldn't have thought of something like this on my own!

Homemade Vanilla Pudding

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2011
Just made it and couldn't wait for it to cool. I agree with others, put the cornstarch in with the sugar and add cold milk. Whisk constantly because it goes from too thin to scorched quickly! I also recommend cutting back on the sugar. I thought it was way too sweet, which is why I gave it 4 stars. Next time I intend to try it with brown sugar instead to see if it will taste like caramel!

Yummy Roll Ups

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2011
My friend makes these for church functions a lot and they taste so good! My sister also makes them, but sometimes she will substitute turkey breast for the ham, and she'll dice up jalapeno and mix it in to the cream cheese, then she omits the pickle. Either way, they're fast, easy and absolutely delicious!

Kielbasa for the Super Bowl®

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2011
This is tasty, but I should mention that I used the little smokies, not full sized smoked sausage or kielbasa. I also prefer raspberry preserves to grape jelly. They both went quickly and no one believed how easy they were to make!

Butter Rich Spritz Butter Cookies

Very good, although it was hard to get sugar sprinkles to stay on top before I popped them in the oven. Delicious flavor and definitely the best Spritz cookie I've ever eaten. Sorry, Mom! =-)

Carnation® Quiche Lorraine

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2010
I did exactly as the directions said except that I added some chopped fresh spinach. The egg texture reminded me of scrambled eggs, not quiche. The taste was okay, but I'll leave out the nutmeg next time because I didn't care for it. It took a lot longer to bake than the directions said, as well.

Cake with Buttercream Decorating Frosting

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2010
This is traditional buttercream frosting. You can use whipping cream or heavy cream in place of milk. If you are having problems with it separating, it is probably because it is too warm, or you use liquid food coloring instead of paste or gel. The liquid always makes it have a weird texture and is only good for coloring eggs, in my opinion. Wilton coloring pastes/gels are available in Walmart in the wedding craft area and give great results. My mother and sister were both professional cake decorators and loved their colors for the vibrancy and lack of added texture. Keep the icing chilled when possible, and add more powdered/confectioner's sugar if it is too thin, but do it in small amounts. I hope this helps!

Salad Dressing Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2010
This is very close to the one I've been making for over 30 years from my mother's old Tupperware cookbook. The only difference is the Tupperware recipe adds 1/2 teaspoon of salt and uses 1/2 cup cocoa powder instead of 1/4 cup, giving it a rich chocolate taste. I use Kraft Light Mayo, and it works well in this recipe, yet saves me half the fat and calories of regular mayo. I saved ynathan85's recipe with my revisions so I can put all my favorite recipes in one book and finally get rid of all the cookbooks!

Pork Chop and Feta Skillet

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2010
This was so good! The only thing I did different was to brush the lemon juice on to the chops rather than waste an entire cup of juice. I had to use RealLemon, as I had no fresh lemons, but it was still good. I also didn't have the sun dried tomatoes, but we didn't miss them. For some reason, the feta didn't melt much, but it didn't matter. This is a keeper!
