Corned Beef and Cabbage I

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2013
Bland. I was skeptical and should have trusted my gut. I've had all kinds of corned beef and this is below average. I would go with beer instead of water, additional mustard seed, and a bay leaf next time.

Barbie's Tuna Salad

Reviewed: May 31, 2011
Do you like tuna with your mayo? haha. Needs to cut that in half at least. I did the recipe as stated and added a bit of Dijon to sharpen the flavor. I also doubled the curry but I don't think it would be necessary with less mayo.

Breaded Pork Chops

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2010
I have tried all the top rated pork chop recipes. Most require a lot of unnecessary work and still come out dry and chewy. I was pretty humbled when my boyfriend tried this simple recipe and blew my mind. I thought he might be the pork chop whisperer. But no...just an amazing recipe. I still try to brine my pork chops for a couple hours for more flavor. Thanks for sharing. Its been on my regular meal rotation for a couple years now.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2010
Instead of granny smiths (so tart!) I use any apples that have become too ripe & bruised to eat. It gives the pie a sweet cider taste. Also don't pour the brown sugar mixture on the crust. Mix in with the apples before putting them in the crust and save a bit to glaze the crust you put on top. Also brush milk over the top of the pie so it doesn't get crumbly & dry. If you want it to look extra delicious mix hot water and bit of corn syrup and glaze the top when you take it out of the oven. I would recommend "Ruth's Grandma's Pie Crust Recipe".

Curried Coconut Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2010
Wonderful! I used curry paste (add extra tbsp) and cooked in oil for 5 min to as suggested. I left out the tomato sauce & drained the stewed tomatoes. I also added broccoli, & julienned carrots/zucchini 15 before serving. Perfect!

This is not a truffle recipe. Maybe chocolate cheesecake balls? Disappointing at the very least.

Best Toffee Ever - Super Easy

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2009
I did everything that I could have done wrong with this recipe but your toffee can be saved! First crystallized sugar will turn your batch into a grainy mess! Make sure the sugar is completely dissolved into butter before boiling. If there are any sugar crystals built up on the sides of the pan. Wipe them off with a wet pastry brush or wash cloth. I have also read wooden spoons can cause crystallization. Grainy toffee is the worst! Second! Once it begins to boil STOP stirring. Set on Medium or medium low and stir once every few minutes. High heat and stirring too much will separate the butter from the sugar. :( IF ITS TOO LATE... Separation is an easy fix. Turn heat down to the lowest setting and add a tablespoon of hot water at a time while stirring VERY slowly. Don't add more than 1/4 cup water! Be patient...it will start to come together! Crystallization is impossible to reverse completely but can be helped. Bring the temperature down to the lowest setting. Cover with a lid and stir every few minutes for about 10 to 20 minutes. Keep an eye on it so it doesn't burn! Your toffee will still be a bit grainy but will crack not crumble. Hope this is helpful!!
