Buttercream Icing

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2010
This is a great recipe for buttercream icing. It's not quite as good as the local cake bakery around here but close! I added an additional 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract and that really gave it the extra flavor it needed! yum!

Molasses Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2010
I switched out the shortening with softened butter and switched clove with vanilla extract. We didn't have the other ingredients on hand. They came out PERFECT! Like in other molasses cookie recipes on this site, there is no reason to chill the cookie dough unless you want to waste time; when you use the butter at a softened state, the dough is a perfect consistency. It definitely saves you a lot of time and the cooking time is the exact same. Mine come out perfect at 9 minutes on 375 degrees. I let them cool on the counter.

Yum this was good. I made it exactly the way it's instructed with no modifications except for the parsley because I didn't have any on hand. It was great!

Golden Rum Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2008
O...M...G. I LOVED THIS. I had to use white/clear rum though instead of dark because our local grocery store didn't have any! I also used French Vanilla pudding by accident and it was still delicious. Now this is KEY: I did what somebody else suggested and kept the cake in the pan while pouring the glaze around the edges and on the inside edge as well. The cake soaked it all up evenly all the way around it. I kept it in there for a couple of hours, flipped it right side up onto a plate and WOW!!! SO MOIST!!! So, instead of 'painting' on the glaze, pour it in the pan! SOO MUCH BETTER!

BBQ Chicken Pizza I

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2008
It's been about a week since I made the pizza. I was so disappointed that I didn't bother rating the recipe until now. The cilantro ruined the pizza. I don't really know what measurement a "half a bunch" is but I used the "half a bunch" I bought and it was WAY too much. You couldn't taste the BBQ, the chicken, or anything! Just cilantro! (& I LOVE cilantro!) So, the next time I make this recipe, there will be little to no cilantro.

Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2008
Oh man, THESE WERE GREAT! I made them exactly how the recipe instructed and they were soooo flavorful. Tastes just like Banquet Salisbury Steak family meals...even the sauce! The only thing I'd suggest is doubling the gravy and maybe heat it up separately from the steaks to pour over when serving. I didn't have hardly anything left (sauce-wise) because it was all burnt on the bottom of my skillet! That was the only problem I had with this recipe; scraping off the very thick burnt layer of hamburger mix & sauce when cleaning up. As you can imagine, that wasn't very fun! So I would HIGHLY suggest baking them in the oven!!!!! I will not be making this recipe again unless I bake them. They might not be as good but I guess we'll see...

Slow Cooker Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2008
VERY VERY GOOD. I switched out the ketchup & chili sauce for bbq (Jack Daniel's Original No. 7 Recipe to be exact) & ketchup like everyone else had suggested. I cut back a little on the vinegar but I think I shouldn't have. I cooked them for about 6 1/2 - 7 hrs but I think it was too long. I cut the recipe in half (2 lb. rack) and I think it would have been better to eat around 6 hours. The bbq sauce seemed a little burnt. We had it with potatoes and corn on the cob!! YUM!

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2008
Definitely the best chicken pot pie! I used some of the suggestions here and used chicken broth instead of water, doubled the sauce, added a half Idaho potato cubed, and a little of mrs. dash. Baked it at 375 for 45 minutes and it was absolutely perfect--not runny! My husband isn't a fan of chicken pot pies but he really liked this one!

Marie's Easy Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: May 24, 2008
MMM....DELICIOUS! This was fantastic. The meat of course was just falling apart. The change I made was instead of using water & a dry onion soup mix, I used a condensed can of french onion soup--it worked perfectly. Also, I rubbed it with kosher salt (like someone had suggested) the night before and the flavor it gave was just phenomenal. My husband is asking for it every week!
