Whole Wheat Ginger Snaps

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2010
These are a really good Chewy Ginger Snap, unless you forget them and bake too long, then they are a very good crunchy Ginger Snap! My only problem was that they didn't turn out as pretty as the picture! Mine were very flat! This recipe is a keeper! Thanks MRSDAYCARE!

Mini Ham And Cheese Rolls

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2010
I made these when my Grand daughter, Carmen was visiting for Christmas. She loved them and ate four of them. Everyone wanted more! Really Really good.. I used several different types of cheese, had to use sesame seeds instead of poppy, and minced garlic instead of onions, but still they were wonderful! (Oh, I didn't dare use mustard, family hates it) All these changes, and they were still awsome!

Blueberry Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2009
This recipe is "LICK THE PLATE CLEAN!" I made it just as is so I could do an honest review (I hate it when people change the recipe totally, then review it) Love it, Love it. At the end of cooking and letting it set about 10 minutes to let flavors blend, I LOVE blueberries so I cheated & add an extra 2 cups, just to give each serving more berries each....(I used frozen berries)

15 Minute Creamy Fettuccini Alfredo

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2009
This is quick and easy. You can also use Milnot in place of the milk and you can also use only 1/2 the butter.

Playgroup Granola Bars

Reviewed: May 31, 2009
Need a few changes since this is under the Healthy Cooking, you need whole wheat flour instead of white. No oil, try applesauce instead. If you want chewy bars, cut the baking time in half or at least for only 20 minutes. One of my kids won't eat raisins. Dried cherries are great, chopped of course. And if you're still looking for chewy, throw in some coconut (which isn't healthy though) While my daughter played high school basketball, I would throw in protein powder.

Pecan Rice

Reviewed: May 5, 2009
This was really really good. The combination of the onion, rice, pecans and herbs were wonderful! I didn't add salt and I was tempted to add craisins, but I didn't...Although I put a splash of orange juice in, because mine needed some moisture. (I cheated and used leftover brown rice from a couple of days ago, so my rice was dry when I started!) I'm sure if I would've started with fresh rice, I wouldn't have had to add the OJ. A very nice side dish for our Turkey medallions. This one is in my recipe box for next time!

Penne with Spicy Vodka Tomato Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2008
This was fabulous!! I added extra vodka (1/4 cup) and simmered longer than the recipe directed. Really easy and entire family enjoyed it. Also, didn't use Penne Pasta, I had whole wheat rotini in my pantry and that is what I used. Yummy stuff!! We'll have this again.

Classic Bran Muffins

good basic recipe. my daughter doesn't like raisins, so we use craisins. I always substitute applesauce for the oil and to make these even healthier, use whole wheat flour instead of white. During basketball season, while my youngest was playing, I would add protein powder. High Fiber, High Protein, Low fat. Good for snacking too!

Grandma's Eggless, Butterless, Milkless Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2008
This was just o.k.. It took longer to bake than directions indicated and now I understand why you NEED eggs, butter and milk to make a cake taste like a cake. If you have food allergies or on a saturated fat free diet, this would be better than no cake at all - I served it with fresh strawberries, whipped cream and chocolate sauce so it was pretty good that way...Didn't really notice the Eggless, Butterless and Milkless Cake. My family rated it with the 3 stars for o.k. Only make it again if I'm out of eggs and craving cake.

BLT Iceberg Wedge

Great old recipe! We sometimes forget the simplest are best. My mom used to make this with her homemade mayo dressing, 40 years ago. She would add a hard boiled egg on the side to make it a complete lunch for us..I love it with red onion and blue cheese dressing and double the BACON!!
