About this Cook
I'm a newlywed (married March 17, 2007), and I've been cooking only as long as I've been married.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My maternal side makes the best egg rolls in the world.
My cooking tragedies
A hawaiian sauce with pineapple juice and brown sugar. I don't know what I did, but it was disgusting. Good thing it was just the sauce!

Roasted Beets and Sauteed Beet Greens
Ever since I can remember, I've hated the pickled beets my dad always orders at the diner. When my CSA share included beets last week, I didn't know what to do with them. I took the plunge today, and I can't believe I've been missing out on something so yummy! Definitely give this recipe a try.

Creamy Chicken on Linguine
looking at the ingredients list, i couldn't see how this recipe was getting rave reviews. i tried it anyway, and i did like it! it needed a little more flavor, in my opinion. my husband had already had dinner but started eating off my plate anyway, he liked it so much. next time, i'm adding paprika like in the picture.

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff
this is SO good! i used the whole packet of dry italian seasoning and condensed cream of mushroom (it's all i had). i love this recipe because i don't have to thaw the chicken - it works just as well on a couple frozen chicken breasts. our budget likes it more saucy, less meaty, and it tastes good anyway. i throw the cream cheese in as i'm cooking the pasta (we prefer it with penne) and sprinkle grated parmesan cheese over each plate. it couldn't be more simple!!
