Cool Watermelon Slushes

I used sugar instead of honey and put them in the freezer right for forty-five minutes before serving and they were great. Made me wish that the evening had been much hotter, they were so refreshing.

French Silk Chocolate Pie I

My first attempt at a chocolate pie. It was very rich. I also learned that the recipe isn't kidding when it says you will end up mixing for a minimum of twenty minutes. My sugar didn't mix well, but that was my fault not the recipe.

Coffee Liqueur

Very very good. You can really play with the flavor based on the coffee you use. My only caution is to make sure you buy enough vodka. My math was off in the milliliters to cups department and my first attempt was extremely weak.

Crispy Barbequed Tofu Slices

Good appetizer/snack type deal. The recipe is not well written and therefore confusing to the novice like myself. I did figure it out but it was a little frustrating as that was my first deep fry experience.

Goat Shoulder Braised with Prunes and Preserved Lemons

First time trying goat, it is quite good and was very tender cooked this way. The reduction also makes a very good gravy with just some milk and flour added.

Deer Jerky

Too heavy on the smokey flavor for me personally, and lacking in spice. Easily fixed by tweaking the recipe though. My oven only goes down to 170 degrees so my cook time was shortened by about an hour.

Kalua Pig in a Slow Cooker

Very easy to make. The pork itself was a little bland and dry, but that may have been my fault not the recipe. I found adding BBQ sauce after it was cooked was necessary. Good recipe, but I'm going to keep looking for another one.

Braised Venison with Rosemary and Shiitake

Not sure what happened, the meat came out tough, dry, and tasting of vinegar. 0_o Probably my issue and not one with the recipe though, I'm still learning how to cook.
