My favorite things to cook
Anything Asian! (Thai, Korean, Chinese, Indian, etc). But I like Italian, Mexican, Turkish, Moroccan, as well. I tend to enjoy savoury dishes over sweet ones.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Well I know that my family tradition is that we don't use recipes. We whip things together like artists, but this has created now a gap in my life in NOT having learned to cook from recipes, so now I like to try out new recipes, to expand my cooking repertoire.
My cooking triumphs
I don't even know how to answer this, other than to say that it's certain a victory when people love your food and invite themselves over again to enjoy your food. That would be a triumph! And it's usually something Asian...
My cooking tragedies
Right now I'm without a full oven, in my little apartment. That's a tragedy!

Zippy Shepherd's Pie
Yum! I didn't use cheese and I made a white sauce instead to pour on top (butter, flour, stock). I scallop cut the potatoes instead and partially boiled them before putting them on top, as another variation instead of mashed potatoes. Yum!

Orange Chicken Stir Fry
So easy to make! I used fresh orange juice (from juicer) but you can just store bought. I grated finely a tsp of ginger, freshly grated finely 1 Tbsp orange zest, and added 5 garlic cloves coarsely chopped. I first cooked the chicken thigh pieces (dipped in egg white, and then in corn flour mixed with garlic powder coating the chicken). keeps it more tender and moist and sauce sticks to the chicken better with this coating. Veg used: carrots, cauliflower, onion peas. Yum! Next time: I might add a tsp of chili flakes for some heat!

Greek Pasta Salad I
Great, easy recipe that I whipped up in no time! I heated up the vinagrette in microwave for 30-60 seconds so that the sugar dissolved into the mixture. I also used Apple Cidar vinegar and regular White Vinegar instead of Red Wine Vinegar (I didn't have it) and it was delicious! Definitely have it sit in fridge for AT LEAST 2 hours for the flavours to really soak into the pasta. It gets better the longer it is kept in fridge (if you can make a day ahead, that would work, but I tend to like having crisp veg, not soggy, so it's really a toss up...
