BBQ Chuck Roast

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2009
Delicious. We don't have a spit anymore. I fired up the big green egg and cooked at about 325 until done. Delicous!

Grandma's Brisket

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2009
Easy, delicious. My husband liked it better than his mother's recipe, and he LOVES his mother's brisket.

Zucchini Bread II

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2009
Very tasty. Several people said it was the best they'd ever had. I made mine with whole wheat flour. It says it makes one loaf, so I made one loaf and it worked. The loaf was huge, and took longer baking, but I think I preferred it that way.

Fluffy Whole Wheat Biscuits

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2008
These are GREAT! I have tried other whole wheat biscuit recipes without much success, but I followed the recipe on these and they came out perfect. I added the milk too fast and the dough was sticky--I suspect it may vary based on flour brand and/or butter. (Mine was straight from the fridge). To solve the problem, I simply mixed in a little more flour. I also made the dough in my food processor. The key there is not to overmix. Excellent recipe! I will make again and again!

All Day Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2008
This is a pretty good recipe, if you like custard style mac. The only change I made was to use whole wheat pasta instead of the regular kind. The first time I made it, I did not precook the pasta--as was suggested by other reviewers. I felt the mac turned out too dry. I precooked on the second time and it was delicious. Both times I added a little more cheese than was called for--sonme things just don't need exact measurement.

Slovak Stuffed Cabbage

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2008
These are simply the best! I'm pregnant and got a craving for cabbage rolls, which I hadn't had since I was a young child. Because I like to use organic products where I can, I made a few changes to the recipe. My store doesn't carry an organic condensed tomato soup, or even a plain organic tomato soup, so I used an organic cream of tomato and reduced the water. I didn't have garlic salt, so I used fresh garlic and salt to taste. For more flavor, I also increased the amount of parsley. I ran out of cabbage leaves had extra meat mixture, so I crumbled it over top, before adding the other toppings. These were a huge hit with our family and also our last minute dinner guests. This is a new favorite recipe that I plan to make again and again.

Pot Roast in Foil

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2008
I've been using this recipe since I made my first roast--probably almost 8 years ago. It is always a hit. Even my mother now makes it this way. It's just too easy and tastes too good to make it any more complicated. I started out making it just like it says, although I now usually add a dash of worcestershire or wine. I have also made it in a crockpot with good results--although all day cooking is not necessary with that method and time depends on the roast size. To extend time, you can start with a frozen roast. Served with veggies, and mashed potatoes or oven fries, this is an excellent staple recipe for any family.
