Authentic Louisiana Red Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2012
Everyone loved this! I used chicken broth instead of water and simmered it with a ham hock. The last half hour it cooked with the lid off.

Spanish Potato Omelet

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2012
I had this dish on a recent trip to Puerto Rico and had to come home and make it. The version I had only had potatoes and a small amount of onion diced so that is what I used. I cooked the potatoes until soft, but not crispy. Next time I will take the advice of another reviewer and drain the potatoes after cooking them to remove most of the olive oil. I will make it again with that change.

Frogmore Stew

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2012
The kids always love this one! I start with the potatoes and corn, then add the sausage for 5 minutes. I turn off the stove, add the shrimp for a few minutes as they cook pretty quickly. I serve it in bowl, crusty sourdough bread and old bay, sour cream and cocktail sauce on the side. Use the bread to soak up the broth - so good! Enjoy!

Black Bean and Salsa Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2011
This is excellent and so easy. I keep one can of beans whole, otherwise I kept the recipe exactly as it is shown. This is great soup for winter or summer!

Fluffy French Toast

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2011
I guess it is the flour but these are awesome - everyone loves them and it is the only way I make french toast now. I don't change a thing and it is great every time.

Savory Crab Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2011
So good! I made this exactly as called for but I used a combination of cheddar/jack and it was great. I ended up having a lot more filling left over so next time I will buy more mushrooms - but I cooked it in a dish and used it as a dip, so it didn't go to waste. I did take the advice of others and made these the morning before the party, then heated them up in the microwave and they were perfect!

Double Tomato Bruschetta

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2011
This was so easy and everyone loved it. I didn't change the main recipe at all. However, I made it the day before and served it on the side with sliced bread and crackers.

Caramel Crunch Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2011
My son picked these out to make for a Christmas dessert and they were excellent. We left out the peanuts because of allergies but kept the rest the same. Next time we will have a little less caramel and a little more chocolate - can't wait to make these again!

Grilled Delmonico Steaks

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2011
This was great with rib eye steak. I was only able to marinate it for 3 hours but it was really good! I followed the advice of others and left out the salt and used low-sodium soy sauce. This one is a keeper. I plan on using this on london broil as well.

Amish Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2010
This is a keeper- I didn't change a thing in the recipe and everyone loved it. It isn't too eggy and not too heavy. I fried up the bacon and shredded the cheese the night before so it only took me a few minutes in the morning to prepare. I will make this again. Thanks for posting!

Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2010
My son picked this one out and it was a winner. So easy and a great change from the normal chicken dinners we keep making. I also doubled the amount of mushrooms.

Italian Style Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2010
I made this because I didn't have a lot of time. It was a good, basic recipe for a weeknight dinner. As suggested, I turned the chops over after 10 minutes. I suggest cutting the crackers and cheese amounts in half- too much of it goes to waste.

Asian Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2010
Great recipe- easy to follow. I followed the advice of others and kept the sauce to pour over the top instead of tossing it to keep the breading on the chicken. This took a little more time than I like to spend on a weeknight but this is a great weekend meal.

BBQ Country Style Ribs

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2010
I skipped the lemon, cooked covered in foil, with a little bit of water at 300 for 2.5 hours, then removed the liquid, basted with BBQ sauce, covered with foil again and baked at 275 for an hour. The whole family liked it. A good change of pace when country style ribs are on sale.

This is a keeper! I found the Mexican vanilla and noticed a difference- just a stronger vanilla flavor. This will be my go-to dessert for pot lucks from now on.

Bread Pudding I

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2009
This was excellent and super easy. I used 5 eggs instead of 6 and used a french loaf that was a day old, since I had it around. I served this with the caramel sauce from another recipe on this site: Peachy Bread Pudding with Caramel Sauce. This is a keeper I will make again!
