About this Cook
I am 26 and have been happily married for 5 years. I especially enjoy cooking now that I have a "professional taste-tester" in the house!
My favorite things to cook
Baking is by far my favorite thing to do, but I love all other kinds of cooking as well. My favorite time of year is winter, when I can enjoy making soups, stews and other hearty things that "stick to your ribs!"
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every year at Christmas, my mother and grandmother and I would make peppernuts. The holiday season holds so many special traditions, it'd take forever to name them all! I also enjoy working with kids in the kitchen and coming up with fun things!
My cooking triumphs
My first cake- I made all by myself when I was 8 years old. I still have a picture of me holding it; not only did I frost the cake, but the whole platter it was on, too! I pulled off my first "in-law" meal, served 22 people for Thanksgiving, recently as well!
My cooking tragedies
Pear pie!!

Critter Fritter Casserole
The reason I am giving this a 3 is because it had a funny texture. The bottom meat part was crumbly, nothing held it together. You need to add probably 3/4 c. ketchup to the meat, or add cheese. Instead of covering the top of the cornbread part with the shredded cheddar, next time I will probably add the cheese into the meat mixture. We doused ours in ketchup to eat it. I will try again, because the flavor was really good (I doubled the onion and salt).

I'm trying to figure out why people like these so much. Mine were ugly and sticky. I would actually have preferred to use a cake mix with these. Will not make again.

Apple Squares
Flavor-wise, these are probably a 10. The texture, however, was funny to me. It was cakey on bottom, cobbler-like on top, and gooey in the middle. Maybe I didn't bake them long enough? Either way, they didn't last too long at my house. Will absolutely make again.
