Slow Cooker Dump and Go Cheesy Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2010
Total meh on this one; was really bland and blah. The Easy Cheesy Chicken recipe is much better. Will not likely make this one again.

Pork Chops a la Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2010
This is a definite keeper! Came out of the cooker nice and moist on the inside, and tender enough to cut with a fork. To cut back a bit on the sodium I used Mrs. Dash Table Blend instead of the seasoned salt, and it tasted just fine. Served with peas and carrots and StoveTop stuffing for pork, and it was fantastic, with leftovers for later in the week. Next time I'll try modifying it by using mushroom soup instead of chicken with rice, and maybe also add a drained can of sliced mushrooms as well because my husband and I really like mushrooms.

Easy Cheesy Chicken I

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2009
This was a huge hit with both me and my husband! I followed a few of the other recommendations and used dry Italian dressing mix instead of just plain garlic powder, and it was perfectly seasoned. I also used the 98% fat free cream of mushroom and cream of chicken as well as light sour cream, so the worst thing is probably the cheese soup. I served it with brown rice, and spooned some of the sauce on the rice and it was absolutely wonderful! This will definitely be in my repertoire for a good hearty meal; I'm looking forward to trying some of the other suggestions including using the broccoli soup and fresh or frozen broccoli.

Island Kielbasa in a Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2009
A nice easy recipe. I followed a few of the suggestions in the reviews -- I cut the brown sugar to 1 cup, and instead of adding everything to the slow cooker at once, I mixed the sugar, ketchup and juice from the canned pineapple in a mixing bowl then poured over everything in the slow cooker so that the tastes would be evenly distributed; I also added a few dashes of light soy sauce. I also added 2 cut up bell peppers (1 red, 1 green) and a couple of cups of sliced carrots to make it a one dish meal (so I wouldn't have to cook a separate veggie). Came out pretty good served over rice -- next time I may substitute bottled chili sauce for the ketchup (or maybe do a half and half) and see how that does. This recipe is a keeper.

Slow Cooker London Broil

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2009
This is one of my standbys when London broil pops up on sale. The last time I used dry onion mushroom soup instead of just plain onion soup, and it really added a nice touch. I also used the lower-sodium tomato and mushroom soups, and sprinkled a touch of garlic powder on top of the meat before adding the soup mixture. The leftovers are even better a day or two later when the sauce has really seeped into the beef.
