About this Cook
south african girl, recently moved in with my fiance, so don't have alot of cooking experience. I like this site it has great ideas. I look forward to using more of these recipes.
My favorite things to cook
probably pasta because it is quick and easy, i don't always have alot of time on my hands, very active as of late.
My favorite family cooking traditions
probably my mother's milk tart and my gran's date bread... both of which i can't make... but one day i will.
My cooking triumphs
one particular friend of mine is a very picky eater. i made her some bbq chicken with a bunch of ingredients i just slapped together (if only i could remember what they were) and she absolutely loved it!! nearly ate the chicken bones as well.. I also made a pork recipe from here which included lemon slices and ketchup which my fiance loved!!
My cooking tragedies
i tried to make brownies (also a recipe i got from here) last night. thought my mini oven was on bake but in fact it was on top grill.. which ended in my brownies having a hardish crust and the bottom being like a sticky chocolate pudding. but the fiance ate it anyway heh!

Absolutely Best Brownies
I'm giving this full marks, because if i was able to make them properly they would have been fantastic. it was really quick to mix together and wasnt long til i popped it in the oven, putting it on top grill!! which resulted in my 'brownies'baked to a crispy crunch on top and a sticky chocolatey pudding thingy at the bottom. if i had put the oven (which i've never used before) correctly they may have come out fantastic. i didn't have walnuts so just added some crushed peanuts instead. it was still fine. Fiance liked it though.. he thought it was some sort of chocolate pudding.. oh well better luck next time!

Great Garlic Knots
this sounds very delicious, we have bread dough at our local grocer, but there are no package instructions. could someone please tell me more or less how long you should bake them? in case i can't find any instructions.
