Just recently became a stay at home mom again. I have never liked to cook mainly because I only had to do it as a kid when it was around the holidays and it was always a rush to get things done. However, since I'm grown and don't have the rush to fix anything, I have started to enjoy it more.
My favorite things to cook
Pot roast in a slow cooker. It can simmer all day and always comes out great.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandma always made everything from scratch. She raised me, so I always had home cooked meals. My favorite thing she made was mashed potatoes. Every Thanksgiving and Christmas she made a HUGE dinner that was all homemade. She would always buy the biggest turkey at the store and cook it overnight. Never once did it turn out bad.
My cooking triumphs
None yet. Well, nothing that is really worth talking about. LOL
My cooking tragedies
I burnt hard boiled eggs once. :( I never cooked on an electric stove before and didn't realise that they cook a lot faster than a gas stove. So I left the eggs in the water and turned it on. I forgot about them until I heard this loud popping noise, kinda like you are making popcorn. I ran into the kitchen and there were egg shells everywhere. I even burnt the pan.

Teriyaki Chicken
This did not turn out any way like stated. I followed the recipe completely, and I ended up with so much leftover sauce! I was turning and basting chicken often and still didn't come out with a glaze. I'm not really sure what I did wrong, but my husband seems to think that it called for way too much soy sauce. I'm not sure if I will make this again or not.

Spicy Smoky Macaroni and Cheese with Turkey Bacon
This is a new spin on the old mac and cheese routine. Like most kids, mine are addicted to mac and cheese and love it when I make it with velveeta which is what I did here. My only word of caution: be very careful with the cayenne pepper! I accidentaly spilled some, thinking that it wouldn't be a big deal, but boy was I wrong! Needless to say that was a bad dinner that night! But overall, this is a great way to spice up the boring mac and cheese.

Pizza Casserole
This is a big hit at my house. There are never any leftovers! I was surprised to see that it only requires 2 cups of noodles, but it is really all that is needed. I followed the recipe to a T and everything turned out wonderful. Thanks for a great, fast, family meal!
