My favorite things to cook
Really, anything. I cook for myself, my boyfriend and my friends all the time; I love cooking dinner and Italian food especially. I cook almost every day, in fact if for nobody but myself. I also love baking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother has been teaching me to cook since I was about 3; an early memory is separating eggs with her while I stood on a stool so I could reach the counter. I have been cooking on my own since I was 6 years old, a teacher's aide in Kindergarten taught me how to scramble eggs and my mother was very surprised to see her 6-year-old come home from school knowing how to cook eggs! I also have fond memories cooking big breakfasts on Sundays, like eggs benedict and waffles from scratch. My mother is an excellent cook and I like to think I take after in that respect.
My cooking triumphs
Tiramisu Layer Cake. The first cake I've ever made in my life, and I made it very well. I have to say I was very proud; I made it for a friend's birthday.
My cooking tragedies
No real tragedies so far to speak of-- I've made mistakes, sure, like overcooking the chicken, but no real tragedies. Knock on wood.
