About this Cook
I am a home cook/devoted foodie, and the Entree Host at The Real Women of Philadelphia Canada interested in taking inexpensive everyday ingredients and turning them into something healthy and delicious. Using fresh produce and local fare, I like to update old classics without losing the comfort of the familiar. This is on purpose and congruent with my fervent belief that the best things in life marry the past, present, and future in a harmony of understanding and flavour. My favorite things to cook
I like to cook just about anything and am always trying to perfect techniques, recipes, and ideas. I seem to have a flair for pasta, anything with pastry, and roasting.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love the tradition of Sunday dinner and try to invite friends or family over to eat Sunday evenings throughout the year. I think it's something many people have gotten away from, which is a shame, because it truly is a wonderful way to end a weekend and recharge for the week ahead.
My cooking triumphs
My latest cooking triumph is being selected from over a thousand cooks from across Canada to be Entree Host by Kraft Foods Canada at The Real Women of Philadelphia website! It helped give me confidence in my recipes and flavours - and I hope other cooks on this site will stop by to try what I have published here!
My cooking tragedies
I recently lit my oven on fire trying to broil something on parchment paper!!

Puff Pastry Salmon Bundles
Just a quick note... the low sodium beef broth is a typo. The recipe calls for low sodium chicken broth. Beef broth would just be weird :-) If anyone has accidentally made this with beef broth, I would be very curious to know how it turned out!

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs
This is a wonderful recipe. And so easy to simmer the meatballs in the sauce. Like many spaghetti recipes, this one just gets better and better by the second day. I like to make it ahead of time and reheat before serving or let the sauce simmer all day. Fabulous! Thanks for sharing.
