Best Ever Blueberry Cobbler

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2012
I had just picked tons of fresh blueberries and was looking for something to do with them, so I went looking for a cobbler recipe, even though I had never made a cobbler before. This recipe was very easy to make and I had all the ingredients already on hand. The cobbler it made was delicious, although I might have liked a bit more crust. It is not terribly sweet, so a bit of vanilla ice cream on top makes it even better.

Soft Sugar Cookies IV

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2010
I'd never made sugar cookies like this before- Only the kind you roll out and cut into shapes. However, my boyfriend wanted some regular old sugar cookies, so I found this recipe. This was a very simple recipe to follow and the dough was super-easy to work with. I'm not a huge fan of sugar cookies, so I thought they tasted ok, but everyone else who tried them really liked them. The only problem I had was that when I rolled them and put them directly on the baking sheet, they came out all round and puffy and looking like little turtle shells (which would be really cute if you tinted the dough green), so I started scrunching them after rolling them in the sugar. I kind of expected I'd need to scrunch them, but I wasn't sure if the dough would spread out much, and it really doesn't, which is nice. I baked them for about 10 minutes and they came out perfectly, although they were a little crunchier than I expected. Although they were pretty crunchy on the outside, they were still soft in the middle. I suspect this recipe might also be good for cut-out sugar cookies as well. Very good recipe :)

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2010
My muffins were a disaster =( I don't understand why, because I followed the directions exactly. If someone would like to suggest something, I'd like to try this recipe again to see if it comes out right next time. But anyway, here's what happened this time: My muffins were done around the outside but the middles were totally liquid. I would leave them in for a bit longer, check them, and there'd be no change. Eventually the muffins were completely black and burnt and the middles were STILL liquid. Does anyone know why? Maybe my bananas were too big so there was too much liquid, or maybe my muffin pan was at fault (it was really cheap and I know it doesn't heat evenly, but even so I've never experienced anything like this). It could actually be any number of reasons, but I'm totally clueless.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2009
What can I say that hasn't already been said? I'll just be honest. I loved this pumpkin bread! I'll always use this recipe. I was lucky I even got to taste it. I made 8 loaves and they were devoured. Judging by all the reviews, I assumed this would be a delicious pumpkin bread, but I really couldn't believe it when I finally tried it. It has a wonderful spicy flavor, very moist, and it's so soft and light it's almost like a cake. I think I might be in love with it.

Eileen's Spicy Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2009
These cookies had a great spicy flavor to them, but they didn't turn out as soft as I normally like my cookies. That's probably my fault, but I can't say for sure. Crunchy as they are, they're still very good.

Sweet Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2009
Easily the best rolls I have ever made, even the first time I tried this recipe. Everyone loved them! I have a small family but nearly all 16 rolls were gone after dinner. I don't even have a bread machine, and they came out great. I'll definitely make these again.

Hot Cocoa Mix

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2009
I was really surprised how good this was. To be honest, I think I prefer store-bought cocoa, but this was quite tasty and made an excellent homemade gift.

Kim's Virtuous Mini Pumpkin Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2009
This is a great healthy muffin recipe. I made a couple of changes... Nothing major. I just used whole wheat flour, and Splenda instead of sugar. With the Splenda change, I calculated it, and each mini-muffin is about 35 calories. Amazing, right? I also used a different blend of spices (1 Tbsp Cinnamon, 1 tsp Nutmeg, 1/2 tsp Cloves, no allspice or ginger), just because that's how I like it. Aside from being healthy, they taste great too. I probably should have halved the recipe because I might try to eat all 48 muffins in one sitting.

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2009
Wow. This is the only cornbread recipe I will ever use! This made the most perfect, delicious cornbread muffins ever! My mom said they were amazing, and my boyfriend said it was the best cornbread he'd ever had in his life. I made 12 muffins, because I just prefer muffins when it comes to cornbread, and they only had to bake for around 20 minutes. Absolutely the best cornbread recipe ever!

Oatmeal-Cinnamon Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2009
Pretty good muffins, but definitely not the best recipe I've ever used. I do like that they're fairly healthy, though. I made them just as they are, except I added almost twice the cinnamon. They were still pretty bland, but I like the texture a lot. I would probably make these again, but I'd add some fruit and other spices or something. Also, I ended up making 10 muffins since there seemed to be too much batter for just 8. Even though it wasn't much of a difference, my muffins were done baking after only 13 minutes or so. I can't remember the exact time, but I would suggest that you watch them carefully so they don't burn.

Chewy Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2009
These cookies are amazing! They're soft and chewy with the perfect balance of peanut butter and chocolate. Just FYI, I put my dough in the fridge overnight, and I dropped the dough in teaspoonfuls (1/4 cupfuls seemed kind of huge) and I rolled them into balls. I knew they'd probably spread out quite a bit, so I didn't scrunch the dough balls. The end result was probably one of the best batches of cookies I've ever made. I'll definitely be making these again.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies II

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2009
Great cookies. You have to REALLY like chocolate to love these, though. They also didn't turn out as chewy as I normally like my cookies. However, they really are delicious. Definitely addictive. I'm not even a huge fan of chocolate, and I ate more of them than I want to admit. Everyone else loved them too, I got tons of compliments. I would probably make these again.

Pizza Dough III

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2009
Absolutely the best pizza dough recipe I've ever used. It's really hard to find a recipe that doesn't make really thick crust. This crust is thin, but not too thin, crunchy on the outside, and chewy on the inside. I did also use a pan with holes in it to help with the crisping, though. Still, it was delicious, and so fast and easy to make. I'm definitely using this recipe any time I make pizza from now on.

Microwave Baked Apples

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2009
I love baked apples! This recipe was pretty good, except my apple shrank a LOT when I microwaved it. I should have known that it would, and it would have shrank a bit no matter how I cooked it, but it was probably half the size it originally was when it was finished "baking" in the microwave. Still, it was delicious.

Whole Wheat Banana Nut Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2009
Delicious! Very tasty, and lots of fun to make. Excluding me, my family generally abhors anything "whole wheat," but they all loved this. It smelled so good, I had to hold everyone back for the 30 minutes it took to cool, they couldn't wait to cut into it and try a piece.

Buttermilk Honey Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2009
Probably the best bread recipe I've tried so far (though I haven't tried that many). It was very good, especially when it was warm. I brushed some melted butter and honey over the tops of the loaves (I made a bunch of tiny ones instead of one big one). I also don't have a bread machine so I just kneaded it by hand, plopped the loaves onto a greased cookie sheet, and baked them at 350 for about 25 minutes. I made the mini-loaves as gifts for my friends but I'll definitely have to make some more for myself and my family very soon! This bread is delicious.

Easy Pumpkin Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2008
Not the prettiest muffins I've ever made... They're really not that attractive at all, but muffins can be like that sometimes. I was a bit skeptical about not adding eggs or oil or anything, but I decided to take a chance and they really are miraculous. They're very moist and tasty. I used a spice cake mix instead of yellow, and they're much more flavorful this way.

Cupcake Graveyard

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2008
Such a cute idea! For the "dirt," I was lazy and bought a chocolate pre-made cheesecake crust and crumbled it up, and it tasted great. I used Pepperidge Farm Milano cookies for the tombstones, and they looked adorable. If you want to use the same cookies and you're planning on decorating all 24 cupcakes, you're going to need 2 bags of them. It also helps if you decorate the cookies first and let the frosting dry for a while or the writing gets messed up pretty easily.

Pumpkin Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2008
I'm not sure I can honestly review this recipe, because I left out a couple of spices and I used cream of chicken instead of broth. I also don't really like soup much, but I liked this a LOT. Since the cream of chicken made it so thick, I watered it down a little. Also, since I didn't have all the spices on hand, I just added more of what I did have. I wasn't sure I'd like this soup, but I had to try it! I never knew chicken and pumpkin flavors actually blended well together. It's so warm, creamy, and flavorful, it would make a great meal on a cool autumn night.

Pizza Dough I

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2008
So easy! I can't believe how easy this dough is to make. Not that normal dough recipes are extremely difficult, but this dough is so convenient. I did let it rise for about an hour or so, and it turned out beautifully. There are better doughs out there, but none as easy as this one.
