Our breakfast Cake
a day in the life
About this Cook
I'm a 30 something mother of 3. I cooked as a housemother at a home for at-risk teens for 2 years. I learned a lot there as I made 3 meals a day for 10-16 people and stayed within the state guidelines.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake bread. I'm excellent at breakfast food. I like to make desserts, but mostly because I like to consume them. My husband is an excellent griller/smoker and I like to make veggies for him to throw on the grill. I enjoy making things that my kids like to eat. Although i think they would prefer Kraft mac n cheese to anything i make. ;)
My favorite family cooking traditions
My daughter LOVES to help in the kitchen. I think it's because I let her lick off the utensils, but I still enjoy the company. I stay at home and it's important to me that my kids be involved in family life. And what's more important to a family than its food?
My cooking triumphs
My husband won't eat breakfast when we go out any more. I have to admit that my country fried steak is pretty darned awesome. Buttermilk is the way to go every time.
My cooking tragedies
Ah, the elusive pie...

Playgroup Granola Bars
yay! i love making these as an alternative to the store bought variety- my kids adore them. i use 1/2 corn syrup and 1/2 honey to cut cost. love to add lots of coconut and chocolate chips. only one problem with these- i can't stop eating them myself!

Honey Granola Bread
i've never used a bread recipe with so many ingredients, but this is well worth it! my granola usually has raisins and dates in it, but no one ever complains about having these in the bread :) delicious and makes wonderful toast!
