About this Cook
I am a happy wife and mother of almost 5.
My favorite things to cook
I love baking bread. Challah is my specialty. My favorite dinner recipes is Chicken Souvlaki and homemade Pizza.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom makes really good pies and cookies. When I was growing up all the kids in the neighborhood loved to come to our house because my mom always had a full cookie jar ready to share.
My cooking triumphs
The most triumphant I ever felt in the kitchen was the first year I made Thanksgiving dinner all by myself for our families. It turned out really good and it was the first Turkey I ever made.
My cooking tragedies
When I was probably 8 yrs old or so I made my first pie. I made it with sour cherries and accidentally used salt instead of sugar. I think I remember my mom gagging down a peice and telling me it was 'not that bad'. :)

Peppermint Bark
This was just great and I don't really even like white chocolate! I was in a rush so I stuck it in the freezer. It hardened quickly and worked like a charm.

Whit's Chicken Enchiladas
I've made these twice now and they are so wonderful. The first time I followed the directions exactly. Last night I added mushrooms, red peppers and spinach to the pan when I was sauteing the garlic, jalepeno, etc. It was even better. This is a perfect enchilada recipe in my book - my whole family agrees.

Artichoke Tetrazzini
I LOVED this recipe. I used 4 cubes of very concentrated, frozen homemade chicken broth instead of canned. I also cubed chicken and sauteed it in lemon juice and seasoning salt. I almost left out the artichoke marinade, fearing it would make it too thin but I'm so glad I did not. The sauce is a bit thin even with the lesser quantity of chicken broth but the flavor is fabulous and I don't mind at all! This is one of the best recipes I have tried off this site!
