Whole Wheat and Honey Pizza Dough

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2008
We love this recipe! This has become a weekly staple in our home. We also use it to make calzones, and wellingtons. We also used it for the hummus pizza on this site! Great!

Home Style Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2010
Wow! This was great and easy. I'm 7 months pregnant, and was able to clean up for company, get a dessert prepared, and make this at the same time. Everyone loved it. I did use a full box of macaroni and doubled the sauce. I also did what I could to make it healthier, of course I know it IS macaroni and cheese. I used coconut oil instead of butter, because butter turns into a bad type of fat at a high temp. I also used whole-wheat everything, but the bread crumbs, and fat-free and low-fat everything but the cream cheese. I topped it with romano flavored bread crumbs that we have , and that seemed to add the perfect flavor kick. I must say, though, it is even better the next day.

Cream Cheese Frosting II

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2010
This is our FAVORITE frosting. We only bake a few cakes a year, b/c we are health conscious. When we do, however, this is a must. We always make it as is. We won one bake off with a chocolate cake topped with the frosting. Our favorite is to use it to frost a red velvet cake, and then to add pecans on top. The recipe provides enough to frost our cakes, and some leftover frosting to splurge on.

Dirty Snow Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2010
What can I say. This cake is easy and awesome. I took it to a potluck at work. (I personally did not eat any b/c I try to limit my sweets.) The cake was quickly gone, even though others brought desserts, too. Also, there are three lunch shifts, and the cake was gone during the first shift, I think. Some people who didn't get to try it were dissapointed. I even had someone say, months after that potluck, that it was the best cake they'd ever ate. Next time I make it, I want to decorate the top with cute and easy oreo penguins. Just lay the oreo flat, twist off the top cookie, and break it into two pieces. The two pieces form the wings as you lay the two pieces on top of the cream. Then, just plop a hershey's kiss above the broken oreo. Finaly, decorate the kiss face of the penguin.

Slow Cooker Squirrel and Veggies

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2010
Overall, very good dish. My in-laws are reserved when it comes to squirrel dishes, however they loved this one. I would recommend using fresh guys for this, which was recommended in an earlier review. I would also lay off of the garlic and add more white pepper. Other than that it was very good. What more could you ask for in a Squirrel dish.

Fast and Friendly Meatballs

These quicly became a family fave. We like our meatballs a little bit sweet, so we just throw in some fresh basil. They got rave reviews with my husband's coworkers, too, at a potluck.

Corn Cornbread

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2010
great tasting, even with some of my modifications. i couldn't make it to the store, so i used 1 cup yogurt +1tsp baking soda for the sour cream, and 2 tbs heavy cream to sub for one egg. i used fresh corn, b/c i don't like creamed corn. i was in such a hurry that i goofed up on the pan size; i used one bigger than a 9x13. For a get together with about 12 people, i would double it next time.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2010
Great muffins! we like to use cake flour, which creates a super fluffy muffin. Last time, we ran out of cake flour and brown sugar for the topping, so we used graham craker crumbs and pancake syrup. These turned out great; oh and we always add some type of nut.

Aunt Betty's Banana Pudding

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2010
Great! It is so rich and creamy that i opted for fat-free milk and low-fat sour cream, and it still tasted totally full-fat. (Not to say it was healthy by any stretch of the imagination.)

Green Goddess Dressing III

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2010
We used this as a base recipe: We've never had g.g. dressing, so my recipe may be quite different. We ommitted the anchovies & parsley. We threw in some fresh basil and dried dill. Also, used balsamic and apple cider vinegar in place of the tarragon vinegar. The recipe does make more than two squeeze bottles full of dressing, so you may want to half it. It's been going quick around here: great on spinach.

Beezie's Black Bean Soup

We used brown rice instead of white. We also added a little bit of spinach for a twist. If you use brown rice, cook on high for three hours.

Calypso Black Bean Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2011
Perfect! We made some modifications to make this one quick and easy for us by using our slowcooker: dumped 2 cans of beans with liquid. measured out one mango worth of frozen pineapple, mango, and peaches, slow cooked on high for 1 1/2 hrs. After 1 1/2 hrs. added in bannana. Then, cooked for another 1 hr. Also, used 1 tsp. ginger, 1 TBS. coconut oil instead of olive oil. We didn't have any coconut milk on hand. Added an extra 1/2 cup of water. Placed little food processor next to slowcooker and strained out the fruit and some of the veggies and chopped them in it. We used a vegetable broth that contained oregano, but it didn't hurt the flavor at all. Garnish with one TBS. cilantro and diced yellow pepper. Thanks.

Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2011
This is finger licking good!!! We used the herbs and sesonings that are tyipically found in ranch dressing and then added mayo to the finished product to cut down on the heat. We can eat this stuff for breakfast or at one in the morning hot or cold!!! It does not have to be football season for this stuff.

Slow Cooker Latin Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2011
we used frozen chicken breasts & instead of browning then in the frying pan, we just threw everything in the crockpot. that way, we didn't need chicken broth, so we just dumped the black beans in without draining them.

Slow Cooker Taco Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2011
Great slowcooker recipe, we perfer black beans to corn, and didn't have any green chiles, so we used 2 cans of black beans, added the water from them, and followed the tip to add water. We added one cup. Used our own spices. We're dairy-free, so we topped it with mashed avacado, and stirred in corn tortilla triangles.

Puppy Chow II

I made this with a 3-year-old preschool class. I skipped the pb to avoid allergies. This is a great kid-friendly recipe!!! I gave each child a baggie with the squares covered in chocolate. Then, I dumped powdered sugar in the individual bag and let the children shake them up!
