About this Cook
I've been cooking since I was about 8 years old. My mother is a great cook and I always liked to see and taste her food. I cook almost all the meals my husband and I eat, but it's fun to go out and try foods I usually don't make at home. I really like seasonal cooking - seeing what's fresh, especially summer fruits, vegetables, and herbs. I like to experiment and make up my own recipes. Cooking is lots of fun for me.
My favorite things to cook
Macaroni and cheese, roast chicken, grilled vegetables, ratatouille, brownies , chocolate cake, fruit cobblers, cold cauliflower soups, pea/lentil soup, stews.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making Christmas cookies. We would all cut up fruit, shell nuts, help decorate, and then eat the final products.
My cooking triumphs
Perfecting roast chicken, made-from-scratch brownies and cakes, deviled eggs, pea/lentil soup, cold soups.
My cooking tragedies
A really bad beef stroganoff made with ground beef. Dry and horrible.

Maple Salmon
My husband and I both loved this recipe. I did make a couple of changes: deleted the garlic salt and added about a tsp. of fresh minced ginger. Very nice served with rice. It's also really good reheated.
