Black Bean and Salsa Soup

I liked the base recipe, but it definitely needed some "oomph". Though I rarely mess with a recipe the first time I make it, this time I did. I added an extra tsp of cumin, a tsp of cilantro, and 5 drops of Frank's Red Hot sauce--that did the trick! Put shredded taco cheese on top of the sour cream as well. Will be making again.

Tartar Sauce I

This did not have enough pickle relish and too much lemon juice; my first try came out runny and sour. I added an additional 1/2 c. mayonnaise and 1/4 c. relish and it was just barely edible. I'm really surprised at the rating of this recipe.

Eggnog Custard

I was very disappointed in this custard. It took an hour and 45 minutes to bake, and when the toothpick finally came out clean, the tops were so brown it almost looked like they were burnt--though, luckily, they weren't. While the taste was pretty good, the consistency was almost disgusting, eggy curds and watery on the bottom. Not recommended if you like real custards.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Very, very good just as advertised. These were the first cookies that my 12 year old granddaughter made by herself (with me watching, of course) and they came out fantastic. Next time we'll make a double batch.

Sweet Dinner Rolls

Fantastic just as the recipe stated. Next I'm going to try them in the cupcake tin as other reviewers have recommended, it sounds like that would be easier than making the half-moon rolls.

Italian Peas

Very good, but that was an awful lot of onion and garlic; next time I make it, I'm going to halve the amounts and use a small onion and only one clove garlic. I also added an extra tbsp of chicken broth since the first one seemed to steam off as soon as it hit the pan.

Artichoke Chicken

This was very good and not difficult to make, but you'd better be an artichoke fan. My husband is not and didn't like this much, but I am and it's now a favorite recipe of mine--when he's not home.

INCREDIBLE Raspberry Cheesecake Cookies

I could not find raspberry baking chips to save my life, so I finally decided to use chocolate. The cookies came out great, though 2/3 cup was too many chips. Otherwise they were wonderful. One important note, though: if you're using a hand mixer, don't use it to mix the sugar cookie mix into the cream cheese mixture. We almost blew up my little mixer before realizing that the dough was too thick for it.

Omelet in a Mug

This was fantastic! Since I didn't have the exact ingredients I used a cut-up slice of Swiss cheese and a few pieces of ham lunchmeat, and a shake of Mrs. Dash since I don't eat salt. I had everyone in the house try it and it was a big hit. I know it'll be my breakfast staple for a long time to come.

Artichoke and Black Olive Baked Chicken

Since I was out of dry white wine and tarragon I had to substitute a semi-sweet white wine and basil/marjoram, but otherwise made the recipe as noted. It was very good, though next time I'll use a large can of artichoke hearts as we all love them. Very nice tang to the sauce, and the chicken was nicely tender.

Baked Garlic Parmesan Chicken

Excellent recipe, although I ran out of oil before I was finished breading the chicken and had to add more (luckily I use pre-diced, jar garlic). Family loved it and asked me to make again, which I will be doing.

Salad with Artichokes

If you like artichoke hearts, this is the recipe for you. No one else in my family likes them, so I make a half recipe and have it for lunch and again for dinner as the full recipe will serve 4. The only thing I do differently is chopping the onion as I don't like the big rings. Absolutely fantastic just as-is otherwise.

Stuffed Cabbage Rolls

This is an outstanding basic stuffed cabbage recipe. I had never made this before though I've had it often and was very pleased with the recipe just the way it is. I served it with cheese mini-pierogis and creamed corn for a true Polish dinner.

Crusty Potato Bread

I only had a package of Idahoan Four Cheese mashed potato flakes in the house when I decided to try this recipe, and it was delicious. An excellent eating bread or for toast, not quite as good for sandwiches as it tends to fall apart.

Soft Sandwich Buns

I've made these twice now, and they came out perfect both times. The first time I made them following exact recipe directions, the second time I added 1 tbsp of honey and then made dinner rolls by putting the dough in a muffin tin and baking. Absolutely wonderful! Highly recommended.

Rosemary Herb Bread

I've made this bread dozens of times without changing the recipe and it's a fantastic eating bread. Not so good for sandwiches, but goes with just about any meal including stews and white sauces, not just Italian dishes. Highly recommended for a newbie to machine bread making.
