I am a loving partner, devoted mother, daughter and grandmother. My family means the world to me. I had one beloved pet, Murphy (cat) who passed away Jan 30/07 at 16 years old. I live with constant pain due to health problems but try my best to rise above it. I'm interested in painting with acrylics and oils, and watercolour, crocheting, crafting, writing, reading, embroidery and cyber penpals. Would love to find someone who has crewel work patterns. It seems to be a lost art. Painting and crafting helps me cope with my pain. I love to cook when my pain allows it so I don't cook as much as I used to.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake. When I was a teenager, I worked every summer in my Grandmother's bakeshop. She did all the baking herself, selling homemade breads, cakes, pies, cookies, squares and donuts along with baked beans every Saturday. Eventually, I did the cookies and squares. It was the best time of my life, without doubt.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Summer family pot luck get-togethers are my fondest memories. Everyone tried to outdo Nanny's Potato Salad but no one would ever have admitted to liking something better than Nanny's. She was a wonderful, strong woman who lived to be 102 years old. She set out on her own at the age of 56 to open her bake shop in a small town along the Fundy Coast of New Brunswick, Canada. Everyone thought she would fail but it was a resounding success. Customers from all along the Eastern seaboard came back year after year for her bread and I am proud to have learned to cook from her.
