I am married and have three children, 2 sons and 1 daughter. They all now live in different states so we are not able to see each other as much as I would like. I keep busy working so I can afford to see everyone as often as possible. :-) I miss having everyone nearby but they have to live their lives. When they come home to visit I try to cook everything they love and haven't had for a while. The kitchen is our gathering place where we cook and eat and talk and laugh together.
I have so many recipe books I can't keep up with them. Since becoming an Allrecipes addict, the books are neglected and my free time is spent right here, reading and researching recipes, keeping up with the Recipe Buzz and just blissfully planning what to cook next.
My favorite things to cook
Desserts are my first choice, but new and different main dishes are a very close second. I love to try new recipes but weekday meals are usually something tried and true and easy. Sundays are my days to experiment on new recipes and get creative in the kitchen.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love cooking holiday meals. Thanksgiving is the best!
Our Superbowl Sunday treat is that we eat in the living room in front of the TV. Otherwise, all meals are at the dining room table, together.
We have special meals for each holiday and everyone knows what to expect with the exception of a surprise or two.
Family, food, fun, that's what it is all about.
My cooking triumphs
When I was 19 I made a full turkey feast with all the trimmings and invited my family over, not knowing if anything would turn out worth eating. It was a complete success and I was so proud!
My cooking tragedies
Me? Tragedies? There are a few, how else can we learn?
