Zesty Quinoa Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2014
I doubled the recipe exactly with the exception of the lime juice, because my limes were quite large (limes vary immensely in size which those who thought it had too much lime should keep in mind) so that I could rate the recipe truly. (You can't make changes and then rate a recipe. I found it delicious! (probably a 4 1/2 star- great for me...a little spicy for some) After tasting and rating it, I added more fresh tomatoes, finely chopped carrots, 3 small orange/red peppers chopped, frozen corn 1 1/2 cups, and chopped avocado shortly before serving. Great recipe to add whatever you have on hand or desire! It would be great with finely chopped chicken breast to make a meal for the men who can't seem to do without meat.

Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2014
We enjoyed this way of roasting. I have always like Brussels sprouts, but this helped my husband enjoy them more.

Chef John's Creamy Mushroom Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2014
This was absolutely wonderful! Takes time (it did take more than 15 minutes to cook out moisture and caramelize the mushrooms, closer to 30 minutes, but the end result was so worth it.) I know I will get requests for this often...and my fabulous cook of a daughter-in-law (who also loved it) is anxious for the recipe too.

Raw Veggie Picnic Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2012
Yummy salad well liked by all. Kept all ingredients the same (how else can you really rate a recipe?) I did put the bacon in with the dressing (per suggestion) which worked great from keeping it from all dropping to the bottom of the bowl. Used only 1/2 of the dressing, but will enjoy the rest on a salad later. Thanks!

Great taste without as much sugar as usual you actually can taste the cream. This was perfect!

Indian Chicken Curry I

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2011
This turned out to be a nice Indian Curry dish...although I had to tweak it a bit. I disagree that the tomato sauce was a distraction. that would come from someone limited in the different variety of curry dishes-even within only the Indian types. After feeling this dish needed something more, I added about a 1/2 cup of yogurt, increased the curry by another 1/2 Tablespoon, added 1 Tablespoon brown sugar, doubled the spices and let it simmer about 45 minutes. The second time, not having plain yogurt, I actually tried adding vanilla yogurt, and we actually loved the flavor it added, so I will likely do that next time. Although healthiest with chicken breast, more flavorful with entire chicken or thighs. Nice base recipe to begin with!

Sour Cream-Rhubarb Squares

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2011
I wish I had added more rhubarb- (I put in about 2 cups) since that was the taste I was craving. However a good coffee cake as it was.

Fresh Peach Cobbler I

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2010
I wasn't particularly fond of the topping of this cobbler, but my husband said he thought it was "alright". I did double the topping as other reviewers suggested.

Mom's Stovetop Pork Ribs

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2010
Wonderful recipe made just as written. Adult son (the biggest critic of ribs I know) was wowed saying "don't loose this recipe", and the rest of the family loved them as well. I used beef short ribs. Definitely a 5+!

Anniversary Chicken II

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2008
Excellent recipe when made with 'stir fry sauce' as per recipe (does NOT say soy sauce). I used 1/3 of the bacon, low fat ranch for healthier version. Also used chicken tenders. Leftovers wonderful cold in wrap next day! Will add to my favorites.
