About this Cook
With a busy family (husband and 4 kids), we try a lot of different dishes. I love to make special breakfasts for the kids when they have sleepovers and special dishes for church gatherings. Trying new dessert recipes is a delight to me.
My favorite things to cook
Meatloaf, because I love it. Cookies, because my husband loves them. Almost any dessert, because the kids love them.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Letting the kids have a little batter from any cake or dough from cookies for their easybake oven. Having a nice breakfast after sleepovers.
My cooking triumphs
When everyone at church praises a dish I've made.
My cooking tragedies
Accidentally adding too much baking soda in cookies, yuk!

Chocolate Gravy II
This recipe did not go as directed. I followed recipe exactly and the butter/flour/cocoa mixture did not thicken to a paste. It just boiled and boiled until I could smell burnt butter. I quickly added extra flour and then it thickened. A general roux calls for much more flour for so much butter, so that is where the problem came into play I am sure. The flavor was pretty bland, I am not sure about how to spruce it up. If I make it again I will start with a general roux and not pay attention to the amounts directed in this recipe. Might try adding salt and vanilla for the flavor aspect.
