Sweet Potato, Carrot, Apple, and Red Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2014
Made this tonight and everyone loved it! I subbed dry ginger for fresh and used broth from boiling cabbage to make golabki as my base. I did not purée the soup and threw some torn baby spinach in the bottom of the bowls, and yogurt on top..my family all commented on the unique flavour and healthy-factor. Thanks for a great recipe!

Real Strawberry Frosting

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2014
I made this yesterday and it was delicious. To speed things up, I used homemade strawberry jam. You don't even need food coloring, it comes out a delightful pink! Perfect for topping any cake! Thanks for a great icing recipe!

Tortilla Chicken Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2013
Wow! delicious and easy to prepare. I used four split breasts with ribs and boiled for 45 min when I shredded them later they were perfect. I added carrots and frozen corn, along with a can of black beans with jalapeños. Loads of dried cilantro and cumin, along with some ancho chili seasoning I had in the pantry. Served with corn bread and it was a big hit. Thanks for a great recipe :)

Apple Spice Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2013
It was a wonderful cake! I followed other reviewers advice and added more apples! less nutmeg! and only 1 cup sugar, brown and white. Also did only 1/2 cup butter,1/2 cup applesauce. My book club was most impressed! a great fall dessert!

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2011
This recipe overflowed our loaf pan, so I would make it in a larger pan next time. We sprinkled dry oats on top for a country look, and added pecans instead of walnuts. It is delicious, very moist and sturdy. Thanks!

Super Bowl Bites

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2010
I tried these 3 ways, prebaking the buns a bit, not baking them, and not baking whole wheat buns! Just to see....They all came out great, and the gang actually prefered the unbaked bun variety, less work for me! Made the meat mixture just as directed. A delicious, fun recipe! If you have teenage boys gaming at your house this should be a staple!

Ricotta Cookies III

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2010
Great cookie! Not just for Christmas either, just adjust your sprinkle colors, pastels, patriotic, etc! I followed the other review and used lemon juice/water with the confectioners sugar, and the icing really made the cookie. This is an easy one to bake with your kids. Yum!

Candy Cane Cookies I

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2009
we have the dough in the fridge now, followed all reviewers suggestions and it still broke/cracked all over when we tried to roll and form the canes. It was very frustrating for my son. The few we baked did taste great, no matter the shape...but still....

Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins

Yum! Gone instantly! My kids loved them, and I liked the size..regular instead of the ones from Costco that are the size of a whole coffee cake! Thanks, I'll make these often! Kerry

Mincemeat Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2009
These are a delicious and very cake-y cookie. My husband said they are just like a cookie that his polish Aunt Betty used to make-big compliment! I didn't frost them, he said they didn't need it, put I have some in the freezer for a party next week, and may add the frosting then! Thanks!

Sweet Potato Pineapple Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2009
Just finished Thanksgiving dinner, and the family flipped for this! Thanks for a great recipe! I boiled the potatoes after peeling and chunking, then drained. I didn't have pineapple tidbits so I chopped up half a can of rings and mixed it in with the chunks. Left it in the fridge over night and made the topping suggested in earlier review, and also added the last 5 pineapple rings for a pretty topping. Since we had mashed potatoes it was nice to have the sweet potatoes in chunks. I highly suggest you try it!

Ugly Duckling Cake I

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2009
My 8 year old cooking fiend son and I made this for a church potluck..it was easy and fun! Kids love recipes with crazy names! We subbed peaches for the fruit cocktail, based on the pantry inventory, and threw in a chopped banana too! We also poked holes in the top with a wooden spoon handle when it came out of the oven(this is too fun to skip!) and the topping melted in perfectly! This can be eaten hot/cold/ and my gang loved it with icecream, though isn't everything better with icecream?! It was easy, fun and tasty! Thanks for a great recipe!
