Crawfish Potato Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2014
Delicious, even if I did forget the cheese lol! I cut back quite a bit on the half and half as well and it was plenty creamy. Yum on the bacon!

Yankee Beans

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2014
We LOVED these! They are not as sweet as the baked beans from the can, but the perfect sweetness and spice! Yum, Yum, I will make these often!

Roasted Yam and Kale Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2014
Yummy, I liked this a lot more than I thought I would! I wasn't sure I would like sweet potatoes, or caramelized onions cold but I did and I ate this up with a smile :) I have some left over that I'm going to try out on my husband tomorrow and see if he likes it. Thanks!

BBQ Glazed Homemade Meatballs

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2014
I did change the cooking method just a bit in this. First of all I cut the brown sugar in half. I baked the meatballs on there own, for about 20 minutes to get rid of some of the grease. Didn't want a greasy sauce. In a sauce pan I sauteed the onion and garlic to soften then added the rest of the sauce ingredients and heated until hot. Put the meatballs into a baking dish and poured the sauce over and baked another 10 minutes. I think an hour is WAY too long to cook meatballs. I gave this a 4 because I think the sauce would have been greasy, and that this would have been WAY too sweet had I used all the brown sugar.

Honey Mustard Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2014
I used this on a turkey melt. I agree with the other reviewers that it is a touch too much mayo. Worked well after reducing the mayo..but tasty as well! I used a coarse grain mustard. I think I will keep on the search for the perfect honey mustard!

Loved the ricotta mixture on this! I didn't use any of the herbs listed but did use chives and dill, had parsley on hand but forgot to use it. Used store bought personal size crust. Delicious!

Bacon for the Family or a Crowd

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2014
This took double the time...about 30 minutes total. Tasted great though! I like the way it's not soaking and cooking in grease the whole time!

Roasted Carrots and Radishes

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2014
I thought these were delicious! I love the way the radish changes flavor so much when cooked to being not harsh but mellow and slightly sweet. Thank you Kathleen!

Spicy Filet Mignon

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2014
I liked this! I chose to grill it since we had nice weather. Although we did enjoy this I think I prefer the way we usually grill steaks, S&P and basting with garlic butter. Liked the spice though :)

Spoiled Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2014
I used spare ribs but the result was FANTASTIC! Out of habit with boiling ribs I threw in some onion, celery, garlic cloves and peppercorns in the water for the boiling process. I believe it adds some flavor to the meat. The sauce however is so good, and sticky! We very much enjoyed these :)

Grilled Ham and Cheese With a Twist

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2014
Yummy! I scaled this down to 1 serving but only had 2 slices of thin sliced ham...so I added a slice of prosciutto as well. I love jams or chutney's on savory sandwiches! This was delicious :)

Sarah's Chili Seasoning Mix

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2014
Oh man this had to have been the best pot of chili I have ever made and I'm pretty sure it had a lot to do with this mix :) For some reason the onion powder is listed twice in 2 different amounts. I'm just guessing a typo so I used 4 tsp. of onion powder and 2 tsp. of dried onion flakes. Also wondering how you are supposed to incorporate 2 whole bay leaves into a seasoning mix. I still threw one into my chili pot though. This is a fabulous mix and I will use it EVERY time a make chili!

Farmstand Ravioli with Zucchini

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2013
I loved this! Instead of canned tomatoes I used fresh which I sliced thick and got as much juice out into a side bowl to add later to the cooking pan to try and make up for the canned juice. I grilled the tomatoes along with a poblano pepper, cause I had it, along with the called for veggies. I used a mushroom cheese ravioli with this and when I added all the ingredients to the pan I added a bit of butter to make up for some of the missing canned juice. SO GOOD! Really enjoyed this one :)

Chef John's Sausage, Zucchini, and Potato Stew

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2013
I made a couple of small changes. I used dried thyme for fresh, used half yellow squash half zucchini, used a roma tomato chopped for the cherry, and added in a handful of chopped spinach. Not major changes IMO, and we thought it was delicious!

Crusty French Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2013
Omg this is some good bread! Wish I would have made extra to freeze. The egg wash is a must if you want a nice golden top on the bread, otherwise it will be washed out looking. I used part of this to slice and make it garlic cheese rounds. LOVE this recipe!!

Open-Faced Broiled Roast Beef Sandwich

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2013
I never would have thought of bbq sauce going well with this type of sandwich, but it does! It's a nice sweetness to go with the sour/tang of the sauerkraut and mustard. I was going to make this open faced, but when I went to move the sandwich from the baking pan to a plate, I accidentally flipped it over and it was not pretty to look at anymore so I slapped the top bun on there. Anyway, very tasty and different!
