About this Cook
I have a wonderful husband that loves to eat my cooking. I have four grown daughter's and lots of grandkids. I love to have big dinner's and invite lots of people over.I have been a cook in a school, nursing home, and restraunt. Also worked as a pro. cake decorator in a cake shop and bakery and have done cakes from my home for about 30 yrs. My favorite cooking job was when I worked for my company that I am at now, making lunch for 20 to 30 people. I've always just wanted to open the recipe book and cook what ever I wanted to, and I could do that here. I learned far more about cooking that way than any other job. I currently am baking cookies and sending them out all over the US In two weeks I sent out 101 dozen choc. chip cookies.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook is really baking. I love to bake Cakes, Cookies and Bread!!! I would love to have my own little cake/bakery shop!
My favorite family cooking traditions
When I make strawberry short cake I always put a scoop of vanilla icecream on the cake and then top it with the strawberries. After one of my daughter's got married, she was somewhere having strawberry short cake and she said, where's the icecream? HaHa
My cooking triumphs
I found out about a year ago that I could make the most awsome bread. All different kinds in fact. I was surprised. I didn't know I had it in me.
My cooking tragedies
One time I was delivering a wedding cake and the bottum layer split in half. Think I missed to put the oil in it. The bride said it was OK they just used the two top layers and said it was beautiful and they couldn't even tell that one layer was missing.

Ravishing Red Velvet Cake
I have been a professional cake baker and decorator for about 30 years now. I find that when people complain about their dry cakes, it's because they really are over baking them.. My aunt used to make choc. cake when I was a girl. I hated dry choc cake. After I learned not to over baken, they are great! Thanks for the recipe.
