Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2008
I love this cake! I had the "Big Fat Chocolate Cake" at a resort once, and I was looking for something similar. Got it! This stayed really moist and was even better the second day. I made a chocolate icing out of chocolate chips, powdered sugar, and milk and slapped it between and on top of two circle cakes. I also made some raspberry puree by blending frozen raspberries and a little sugar and then straining it. The cake with its fruitiness was delicious. This is my favorite cake ever!

Basic Crepes

Delicious, even though they are a little lumpy. I make these all the time with strawberries and whipped cream.

Sugar Cookie Frosting

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2008
Mine was a little thin, and I added more sugar than it asked for, but it tasted better than the sugar cookie icing recipe. I also used lemon extract instead of vanilla.

Chocolate Cupcakes

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2008
I've been looking for a yummy chocolate cupcake and this is it! The ones I've tried all turned out too spongy, but this one is just right. I did everything the same except I used Half&Half instead of milk, and instead of 1/4 tsp soda and 2 tsp powder, I did 3/4 tsp soda and 1 1/2 tsp powder to make it chewier. I don't know much about baking, so I'm not sure if it changed how it would have turned out, but they were just how I wanted them! I don't like things to be very sweet, and this wasn't. They balanced with the very sweet chocolate butter cream frosting I used.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2008
I thought with so much flour, this dough would be very plain and well, floury. The dough was probably the best tasting I've had, but the baked cookies had a weird aftertaste. Maybe that's because I left them in a sealed jar. You have to keep an eye on these cookies when they're in the oven because they take so little time to bake. I checked them while they were still doughy, then turned to talk to my brother for less than a minute, and they were already darker than I would have liked. I think they should come out when they're still white... when they don't really look cooked. I used wax paper under the cookies instead of butter. Good idea. Overall, they tasted alright, like those fat colorfully frosted cookies at grocery stores.

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2008
I made this icing for the best rolled sugar cookies. It was a little sweet for my taste, but my dad said the cookies were not sweet enough alone, so this balanced them out nicely. I made 1 1/2 batches, 3 colors, but for 2 colors, I accidentally put way too much almond extract... so I only used the 1/2 that turned out the right way. I usually like fluffy icing, but this is good if you're going to put them in a jar or a basket because the icing doesn't get smushy.

Any Flavor Taffy

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2008
I tried making this taffy two times. The first time, I got impatient(because I used a smaller pot) and poured it out too soon. The second time, I used a large pot and poured it out exactly at 250. I thought it would be okay, but it was much too hard. Perhaps this is because I used extract instead of KoolAde mix. Was it too hard because I added the extract and coloring after It had cooled? Usually, hard taffy doesn't stop me, but I'm afraid I might pull out my braces.
