Italian Chicken and Chickpeas

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2011
Ok, i am not sure how I am the only one who is mentioning that yes this recipe is good but it is WAYYYY TOO SPICY! I followed the recipe to a "t" and my 8, 6 & 4 year olds mouths were burning. So were my husband and I's and we like spicy food. My bottle says "crushed red pepper" and there are a lot of seeds mixed in with the flakes. I am not sure if it is just my kind of red pepper, but WOW, this was almost not edible because of the heat. THe flavor was good though and I WILL make again as my kids love garbanzo beans, but I will omit the red pepper next time.

Candied Almonds

OMG-Fantastic and SOOO easy! MAKE SURE that you read the other reviews-thats what saved me becasue I was ready to take them out when they were gooey. KEEP cooking in the pan until the goo is gone and they are nicely "chunky" with the sugar mixture. This was SO good and a huge hit! Great for office presents during the holidays or any occasion. Just add to a cute tine and you are good to go! Thanks other reviewers and thanks for the wonderful recipe!

Chicken Spaghetti

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2008
THis was DELICIOUS!! I did saute 1/2 white onion, the bell pepper and some minced garlic in extra virgin olive oil before I added it to the spaghetti. I used a large 13oz box of whole wheat spaghetti. Also, I added 1/4 of bread crumbs and added some more shredded cheese to the top of the spaghetti once it was all mixed together and sitting nicely in the casserole dish before I baked. I baked covered with foil at 350 for 25 minutes and uncovered for 5 minutes more. Definitely a member of the clean plate club! My little girls and husband loved it! I will make this again and again!

Leftover Oven Barbequed Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2008
For the reviewer who said this was not BBQ flavor, they are apparently not from the south. Here in the south if you go to a BBQ restaurant this is exactly rthe kind of vinegar based BBQ that you get. I used this sauce with leftover KFC and it was great-the entire family loved it! Thanks for sharing!

Chess Pie III

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2008
35 minutes????? You are probably reading this review because you followed the directions perfectly and it came out a liquid mess with a hard crust on top, right? That is because it absolutely needs to be baked at 350 for ONE HOUR! not 35 mins. I have a brand new WhirlPool Accubake oven and it works great-so for all the reviewers who said it only takes 35 minutes, please tell me what kind of oven you have that baked this pie in 35 minutes so I can run out and buy one! Mine is an electric oven, so do you all have gas ovens? Would that make that much of a difference anyway? That is why I gave this recipe 3 stars...After I baked it, it came out good, but it was very frustrating to have to figure the time out for myself!

Allie's Delicious Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2011
CHEESY MAC & BEEF! Yummy! Instead of the ham, I added 1 pound of extra lean ground beef that I cooked with 1/2 white onion. I used whole wheat rotini pasta and 7 ounces of shredded cheddar and 7 ounces of shredded monterey jack. After I mixed in the ground beef/onion mix, I put it in a 9x13 casserole dish and topped with a little bit more shredded cheese, bread crumbs and sprinkled w/paprika. Next time maybe I will add some mustard. All in all a great meal! Thanks!

Washboard Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2011
OMG. Seriously, this is one of the best, yet simplest, cookies I have EVER had. My husband was stuffing his mouth with them and simultaneously asking me to make more. And he is not a big cookie person! I chose this recipe because I had everything on hand and it was quick. Only difference I made was that I added a 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon. SO yummy! Thanks for this keeper!

Hearty Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2011
First, WHY do people say this is great and then give it 3 stars?!? Anyways, this was terrific. Yes, I did make some changes. I used 98% lean white ground turkey. I added a can of "no salt added" diced tomatoes (drained) and added a little bit of diced baby carrots. I did add about a little less than 1/2 a packet of taco seasoning. Because I added the tomatoes I reduced the ketchup to about 3/4 of a cup. I browned the turkey and onion in a pan and then added the turky and onion to a crockpot with all the other ingredients and cooked on low for 4 hours. I served with Jiffy cornbread. My husband and 3 kids (7, 6 and 5) RAVED. It was SO delicious! Thanks for sharing:)

Crescent Pizza Pockets

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2011
CHICKEN PARMESAN Pockets anyone? This recipe is great and so easy to make your own. I baked some chicken nuggets and when heated through I cut them up into small pieces and subbed them for the pepperoni. I did not even bother trying to fold these diagonally as 2 triangles makes a nice and easy workable rectangle. I spread the sauce on half of the rectangle and sprinkled sauce with Italian Seasoning and topped with chicken pieces and finished with the mozzarella. Poked each one twice with a fork and sprinkled w/parm cheese. 11 minutes is all mine needed and I cut each rectangle diagonally. I used reduced fat crescent rolls and served with steamed broccoli. The husband and our 3 kids (7, 6 & 4) LOVED it and asked for more. Wish I had made a second batch!

Fantastic! I cut the butter down to 5 Tb, added 1 tsp vanilla extract, 1/2 tsp cinnamon and 1/4 tsp nutmeg. Served with maple syrup, light whip cream and fresh sliced strawberries. Family said they were the best ever! Oh and 25 minutes is all my oven needed.

THis was delish and easy! Only changes I made was that I used whole wheat tortillas. I do think that it could use a little more sauce, but that is just me. Thanks for sharing a great recipe!

Beef 'n' Green Bean Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2011
Wonderful, easy and delish! The only differences I made was 1) I used 1 TB minced garlic instead of garlic salt. 2.) I used an 8x8 glass dish and put 4 triangles on the bottom and then topped it with the remaining 4 triangles. 3.) I ommited the green pepper as 1 of our kids has an aversion to them. Other than that, I followed exactly. The entire family loved this! Thanks for sharing:)

Sweet Potato-Turkey Meatloaf

This was wonderful! Made this last night and the fam loved it! I understand why some people say its more like pate...because it is so moist. Because of that I did add one xtra slice of wheat bread and a little under 1/4 cup of bread crumbs. But trust me-its great!

Loved this recipe! Really delicious and a hit with the hubby and kids. Just a helpful hint - if you do not have dry mustard, you may substitute the 1/2 tsp of dry mustard with 1/2 tsp of prepared mustard or 1/4 tsp of crushed mustard seed:)Enjoy!
