About this Cook
I'm a retired business management consultant, turned SEO. I've always loved cooking, and do a lot of it, as my beltline will attest.
My favorite things to cook
I like doing the entire meal. I'm a meat & potatoes kinda guy, but enjoy making up semi-exotic side-dishes too. A pot roast or prime rib is just the centerpiece.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Easter, Christmas and Thanksgiving are our big family holidays, and I usually make a couple of hams, since none of us are fond of turkey. Spinach-laced mashed potatoes, yams, green bean casserole and dressing are typical sides.
My cooking triumphs
Beef stroganoff is one of my favorites, and I often experiment with the recipe to find new flavors. My other favorite is Flat-A***d Tacos.
My cooking tragedies
I once tried to make abalone, after a successful diving trip. Might as well have tried to eat the soles of my boots... would have been more tender and twice as tasty!

Chimichurri Sauce for Steaks
Great, Ty! Also mighty tasty as an appetizer, with chunks of french bread

Bill's Sausage Gravy
Great idea using maple flavored sausage, Bill. I'd never tried that before, but loved it! I have always added a little oil to the drippings, but I like the butter flavor better. Thanks!

Classic Texas Caviar
This is outstanding! I've also tried adding a half-cup of partially cooked whole kernel corn, VERY well drained. I've had so many people ask for the recipe, that I started keeping copies of it on hand.
