Mom's Molasses Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2008
I just made these cookies for the first time, and what can I say...they are fabulous. Soft and chewy with just a hint of spice and molasses flavoring. I can't wait to share them with my family.

Lemon Sauce for Salmon Patties

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2008
I made this sauce to serve over flounder. I did modify it just a little, added 1 tsp. fresh lemon zest, a pinch of lemon pepper seasoning, and 1/2 tsp. garlic powder. My family enjoyed this with the flounder. I think it could be used over any type of fish.

Hermits I

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2008
I just made these for the first time, and I will be making them frequently...excellent recipe, my husband has been eating them all morning. I substituted nutmeg as I was out of ground cloves, they are still delicious. They do taste better on day 2. Thanks for sharing.

Apple Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2008
Great recipe! I did alter it a bit though...added 1/3 c. brown sugar, 1/2 tsp. nutmeg and a pinch of allspice. I also used others' suggestions, and topped them with a little brown sugar and cinnamon mix before baking. Very flavorful and moist.

Congo Squares

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2008
I haven't made these in a few years but I am so glad I found the recipe again. Moist and chewy. So good, I have been making them at least once a week, and they never last long. Also, taste great with both white chocolate or butterscotch chips mixed in as well.

Gramma Bertha's Banana Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2008
While the flavor of this is good, it too closely resembles a bread. My husband asked why I frosted the banana "bread". Will just stick to my old banana bread recipe.

Pumpkin Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2008
Excellent recipe, cake was half gone before it had even cooled off. Very moist with great flavor. Only alterations I made were to omit the pecans and double the amount of pumpkin pie spice. Also made mine in a 13"x9" pan as others had suggested. Thanks for a great recipe. I will make this often.

Classic Butter Cookies I

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2009
Excellent cookie, and so versatile. I use the log method, making 2 logs and wrap them in wax paper. I keep these in the fridge, for up to 2 weeks, and slice and bake anytime. Often popping a batch in the oven, first thing in the morning, so everyone has fresh cookies in their lunches. I can customize the cookies for everyone...some plain, some with cinnamon and sugar, chocolate glazed, or use flavored store bought icings. I have to say, since I found this recipe, I always have a log or two on hand. Perfect for a busy Grandma.

Best White Icing Ever

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2009
This is an excellent recipe. As stated, it looks a little "iffy" when you start out, but mixing it for the full 5 minutes turns out beautifully. I halved the recipe and added 1/2 tsp. of cinnamon then piped it onto cinnamon biscotti. Absolutely delicious!!!!

Gingerbread Biscotti

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2009
Fabulous!! I, too, reduced temp to 350, and added 1/2 tsp. of salt and 1/4 tsp. baking soda. The flavor was perfect, no bitterness. I drizzled them with a simple vanilla glaze. These just taste like the holidays, and the whole house smelled wonderful. Thanks for a great recipe!

No Bake Peanut Butter Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2009
This pie is so good, people I work with have put in their orders for Thanksgiving. I did make a few minor changes 1. Used chocolate cookie pie crust 2. Spread hot fudge on crust and on top of filling 3. Drizzled with a little peanut butter sauce on top. 4. Increased peanut butter to 1 cup. If I could give it 10 stars I certainly would. Thanks Megans.

Microwave Caramel Popcorn

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2009
So easy and so delicious. I used a glass bowl instead of the bag. Next time, I want to try adding cashews and drizzling with chocolate. The other day, I found myself eating this for breakfast, just can't get enough, it's truly addicting.

PHILADELPHIA Cherry Danish Dessert

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2009
The flavor is very good, but I did not like the way the crescent dough pastry turned out. Not flaky, but somewhat rubbery in texture. I will make this again but use puff pastry next time. ****AN update - 1st time I used the store brand crescent rolls, which I said were rubbery. I have made them a second time using the Pillsbury Crescent Rolls. This is a definite 5+ star rating. Thanks

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2009
Absolutely fabulous. The only minor change I made was to add 1/2 c. of shredded cheddar and 1/2 c. fresh parmesian (BF is a cheese freak). I also did not add any extra salt. This soup is even good cold. Thanks for a great recipe.

Chocolate Ganache

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2009
I was one of those people who thought making ganache was way out of my league. This recipe is so easy and so insanely delicious. I whipped the ganache when cooled into a filling that I used in thumbprint cookies, just as a change from the usual jam filling. I got such rave reviews that I will use this from now on, whenever I need any type of chocolate filling. Simply fabulous. Thanks for the recipe.

Surprise Banana Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2009
This is a wonderful recipe, and the first one I have had that doesn't have the taste or texture of a banana bread. I did make some minor changes, omitted the nuts as I don't care for them. And added 1 tsp. baking powder, 1 tsp. of cinnamon, and 1/2 tsp. of nutmeg. I frosted with a cinnamon flavored cream cheese icing. I will make this recipe often.

Sturdy Whipped Cream Frosting

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2009
I am famous with family and friends, for my strawberry cream cake, which I had always frosted with sweetened whipped cream. I decided to use this recipe, and what can I say it is absolutely amazing. It whipped up flawlessly, and the taste is so rich without being too sweet. Thanks for a fantastic recipe. I will no longer use simple whip cream in any of my recipes, but only this.
