Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2008
AlthoughI certainly wouldn't classify these cookies as "big" they are very good. They were a huge hit at a party. I did take others' suggestions and substituted the water with orange juice. That was it. They were great. Thanks for another keeper!

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2008
I made these and took them to work and everyone LOVED them. A few of my coworkers said they were the best brownies they've ever eaten. I followed the recipe as stated but used semi-sweet squares that I cut/shaved down to small pieces and baked them on top of the brownie mix. It came out great. I would only suggest using the regular morsels for the mini morsels as trying to make the squares into smaller pieces killed my hands and arms. They were excellent brownies! Thanks for an awesome recipe!

Awesome Honey Pecan Pork Chops

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2008
Wow, was this good! The only changes I made were as follows: 1. I used extra virgin olive oil instead of butter (it's better for us) 2. I omitted the pecans because I don't like nuts. The oil and honey mixture provided a really good glaze. It was wonderful. You could easily substitute any kind of meat. I want to try it with chicken next time. It was wonderful. Thanks for the recipe!

Dad's Hamburger Gravy

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2008
This was better than my mother used to make! (Sorry, Mom.) I followed the recipe but took one suggestion which was to add a little garlic. I added a little garlic powder and it was great. I will omit the salt next time as it was a little salty but it was still very good. I hadn't had this meal in probably 15 years and didn't know how my mother used to make it. I can't believe I found it. Thank you!

Heavenly Chocolate Mousse

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2008
Wow! Is this ever good! Per some other suggestions, I added a little vanilla to the chocolate mixture. Additionally, I only had one 8 ounce container of whipping cream and that was fine. It turned out fantastic! I will be making this often! What a decadent dessert! Thanks!

Rosemary Ranch Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2008
This marinade is incredible. Everyone loved it. They all wanted to recipe and said that they had never had such moist chicken before. I marinaded the chicken for about 4 hours before putting it onto skewers and grilling. I highly recommend this in place of the same ol' barbeque chicken that we can all get sick of in the summer. Thanks for yet another great recipe!

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2008
This is incredible. All you have to do is follow the basics and modify as you wish and it'll turn out great. I used 1 can of cream of mushroom but also added 1 can of cream of celery because my husband and I both hate anything mushroom related. I put a flour and spice mixture (rosemary, garlic salt, oregano) over the roast and seered it on the pan to brown all the sides. With the soups in the cooker I also added about 3 cups of water with beef bouillon, parsley, seasoned salt, carrots, celery, onion, potatoes. It is an easy recipe and one you can modify according ot your own tastes. Next time I might add some Bisquik dumplings on top following the recipe for them from the Bisquik box. Thanks so much for a great recipe! I' still learning how to make things to our liking and this is an easy one for me! Thank you!

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2008
This meatloaf recipe was excellent. Like others, I put the brown sugar and ketchup/worcestershire sauce on top instead of on the bottom. It made a great flavor with the meat. I will make a lot more of the sauce next time. Otherwise, I usually put a can of stewed tomatoes on top during the last 15-20 minutes of cooking time to add a little more health to the meal. Thanks for the variety of meatloaf though. It's a great one!

Pork Chops with Raspberry Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2008
Based on other reviews, I made the sauce with balsamic vinegar but I think I will use white vinegar next time or omit it altogether as I thought it had a little too much of a vinegar bite to it. But the sauce tasted really great otherwise. I will just have to modify it to our liking. Thanks for a great recipe! Second time I made this I did use white vinegar and it was great. I made the meal with chicken breasts instead though and my husband said he liked it more than the pork. Both are great though!

Feta Cheese and Bacon Stuffed Breasts

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2008
This meal was good but perhaps because we've never really eaten feta cheese like this, it seemed a little over-powering for our non-greek tastes. We liked it and I used feta cheese instead of goat (mostly because we came across the feta cheese in the grocery store first) so next time I'll try the goat cheese but if that still doesn't suit our tastebuds I'll later try a more basic cheese. My husband does not like what he considers to be the "smelly cheeses". Thanks for a good recipe though. I just have to modify it for us specifically.

Sarah's Applesauce

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2008
Forget the jar applesauce from the grocery store. This is awesome! I took others' suggestions and simmered all the ingredients for 45 minutes. The ingredient amounts were perfect. I used a variety of 4 apples (gala and macintosh) and the sweetness was perfect. I want to experiment with this recipe though and try substituting the sugar for honey and pure maple syrup. My Canadian husband only likes the 100% pure maple syrup. I want to play around with it to come up with a perfect combination of honey and/or maple sugar rather than the white sugar. Thanks for a perfect recipe though that I can play around with to make it my own. It's great as is though...just offering some suggestions. Thanks!

Banana Cream Pie I

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2008
This was excellent. The pudding mixture is simply the best. I prefer to make it all from scratch so I wanted a recipe that did NOT call for a box of the vanilla pudding mix. That's a cop-out. This recipe is terrific and I made my own crust per another reviewer. Thanks so much!

Honey Baked Chicken II

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2008
This is a very good change over the same ole chicken. I used boneless, skinless chicken breasts and took others' advice regarding cutting the butter in half, adding a little more curry and covering with foil. It turned out great. Next time I will use small dishes to put the remainder of the sauce in so we can dip our chicken in it. Thanks!

Blueberry Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2008
This is very good. Per a few other suggestions, I put a topping on top but think I'll leave it off next time. There's enough sugar in this bread as it is so there's no need to add more in a topping or under the batter. It's great without anything else added. Thanks for a great recipe filled with fruit and vegetables!

Italian Style Pork Chops

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2008
I would even cut this mixture down to 1/3. I threw a lot away. But the chops came out very tasty. It was a nice quick dinner that I could throw together in a pinch. Thanks for another keeper!

Chicken Florentine Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2008
This was very good except that my husband thought it was a little to salty. Next time, I will use the low sodium can of soup to help cut down on the saltiness. Otherwise, I took a lot of suggestions from other people and it turned out beautifully; a definite keeper again! Thanks!

Pork Chops and Scalloped Potatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2008
This is a great recipe. The modifications I made were based on what other reviews said. I added a small container of heavy cream to the sauce and doubled the sauce ingredients themselves. I coated the porkchops in flour with some season salt, parsley and paprika before browning them. I did not cook the potatoes ahead of time. I put some sauce on the bottom of my pan, then a layer of potatoes, a tad more sauce, the porkchops, sauce, potatoes again and finally the rest of the sauce. So I basically sandwiched the porkchops between the potatoes with the sauce in between each. It turned out fantastic. I just need to learn to make less of a mess in the kitchen! Thanks for another incredible recipe! We all loved it. My husband said, "Dinner tonight...that one's a keeper!" Thank you! Thank you!

Apple Crisp IV

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2008
This was a huge hit. I scaled the recipe down to 6 servings and put in about 1/2 the flour per other suggestions of needing less flour. I also added apples until I thought it was sufficient...about 1/2 cup less than what was called for. It turned out great. Very tasty! Thanks!

Best Ever Blueberry Cobbler

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2008
This is the best blueberry recipe out there. I did as others suggested and added cinnamon but left out nutmeg. My company absolutely loved it. 6 people inhaled this dessert and my uncle ate the last of it out of the pan. The crust was cake-like but crispy which I loved. I will not make any other blueberry dessert. It was incredible! Thank you for a great recipe!
