My favorite family cooking traditions
I don't really have any but hope to build them as I grow into cooking. I wish I had learned how my mother made some things before she died.
My cooking triumphs
So far, they have been things I have made from this website. It is so great having the ability to see how recipes can be modified from experienced cooks. I think my best recipes have been the chicken pot pie and the chicken cordon bleu. They both turned out excellent.
My cooking tragedies
Although, not a total loss, I took the advice from many cooks during a Thanksgiving meal with my mother to cook the turkey upside-down on its breasts. Well, I figured I needed to turn it right-side-up again before it was finished cooking and I dropped the entire thing...pan and all. It was everywhere. Thankfully, though, I didn't sustain any burns; that could have been really tragic.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies
AlthoughI certainly wouldn't classify these cookies as "big" they are very good. They were a huge hit at a party. I did take others' suggestions and substituted the water with orange juice. That was it. They were great. Thanks for another keeper!

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies
I made these and took them to work and everyone LOVED them. A few of my coworkers said they were the best brownies they've ever eaten. I followed the recipe as stated but used semi-sweet squares that I cut/shaved down to small pieces and baked them on top of the brownie mix. It came out great. I would only suggest using the regular morsels for the mini morsels as trying to make the squares into smaller pieces killed my hands and arms. They were excellent brownies! Thanks for an awesome recipe!

Awesome Honey Pecan Pork Chops
Wow, was this good! The only changes I made were as follows: 1. I used extra virgin olive oil instead of butter (it's better for us) 2. I omitted the pecans because I don't like nuts. The oil and honey mixture provided a really good glaze. It was wonderful. You could easily substitute any kind of meat. I want to try it with chicken next time. It was wonderful. Thanks for the recipe!
