Baked Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2009
I made this for my family before I went to class today. I put in on low for about 5 1/2 hours...boy was it ever dry. I will not make this again. I even put chicken broth in the bottom, onions and garlic in the cavity, and seasonings on top. my poor family choked it down. (at least the kids drank their milk!!) The reason I gave it 2 stars is because it was really nice coming home to a cooked meal and the leftover chicken will make a good soup/casserole

Pancakes I

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2009
I am not sure what I did wrong cuz everyone else from the site seems to like them. The pancakes were flat(even though I let the dough rest) and really didn't have any flavor. My 3 year old didn't even eat them and she LOVES pancakes. I won't make this again.

Paul's Pumpkin Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2009
These bars were fantastic! I followed the advise of others and used 2 cans of pumpkin and added about 1 tsp of pumpkin spice. I didn't realize that I was almost out of the oil so only used 1/2 cup oil and added 1/2 cup applesauce. I reduced the sugar by 1/2 cup because of the applesauce. I baked them in 2 9 x 13 pans. I used the cream cheese frosting recipe from the pumpkin bars II recipe from this site and they tasted great. I got a lot of compliments on them.

Monkey Bread I

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2009
I followed the recipe exactly and they were pretty good. My daughter had a great time cutting up the dough with a pizza slicer. The only thing I would do differently is to make a bit more syrup for the top as they were kinda dry and not gooey like I like them. I used 2 round pans sprayed with pam cuz I don't have a bundt pan and only baked them for about 15-20 minutes.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2009
Maybe it was that I made a couple of mistakes when I made these, but they were very thin and not much flavor. I mixed the butter with the eggs/milk, but the butter solidified cuz the milk was cold so make sure to have the milk at room temp. Because of that, the butter melted when cooking them. I followed the directions as written and the pancakes were bland as well(except for the taste of butter from it melting) I don't think I will make these again.

Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2009
I tried this when I ran out of taco seasoning and already started making my dish, this was fabulous! I won't buy the premixed again. The only thing I did differently was that I used crushed red pepper instead of the flakes (didn't have the flakes on hand) It makes a decent amount, so I have some premixed for next time. I was surprised at how easy this was. Thanks a bunch

White Chili with Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2009
Wow! what a great recipe. I made a couple of modifications, I doubled the lime juice, used 2 tsp dried parsley, 1 tsp oregano, and I didn't have an peppers, so I used a can of diced chilies that I had. I didn't rinse one of the cans of beans to help thicken the base. The only thing I would do different is make a double batch so we could have left overs! Thanks for the great recipe.

Cinnamon Cream Syrup

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2009
this was far to sweet by my families taste. I tried making it twice, once as the recipe says then a second time adding a pinch of salt and some vanilla. I think this might taste good as a base for an apple pie,but not a good syrup.

Breakfast Sausage

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2009
My family normally loves sausage-there is never any left. this time however we had 4 patties left. I thought there was far to much seasoning in it. It was easy to make but the flavor was just not my families style.

Chicken Noodle Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2009
This was a great recipe and very simple as well. Perfect for making after work during the week. The only change I made was using a bag of frozen mixed veggies since I didn't want to take the time cutting up fresh. My family loved it both my children (12 and 3) had seconds! thanks for the great recipe.

Soft Christmas Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2008
OH MY GOSH! I just LOVED these cookies. I followed some other reviews and decreased the flour to 3 cups (I had a hard time getting that mixed in and couldn't imagine using more) I also used unsalted butter, decreased the temp of the oven to 350 and baked according to the look of the cookie I used large cookie cutters and baked for about 8 minutes. I also added about 1/4 tsp of almond extract to the batter. I am on my 4th batch today! Now if I could only find a great glaze for the top...

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2008
I have been searching for a recipe that is similar to the bakery at our local grocery store, this one is close. I added more flavoring to it (1/2 tsp of almond extract and 1/2 tsp of vanilla) I also used a bit more corn syrup and milk to get it to the consistency that I wanted. I poured it into a flat bowl after it was mixed and just dipped my cookies into the icing. if your icing gets a bit hard before you are done with it, you can put it into the microwave for a few seconds. I will use this recipe again (unless I find out the secret at the bakery!)

Robbi's M&M Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2008
ok what am I doing wrong? I followed the recipe and my cookies were flat, then I tried the butter instead of the shortening like others suggested and they were still flat. Any suggestions? the taste was ok but they weren't at all like the ones from the bakery that I go to. I guess I will just have to keep looking.

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2008
This recipe was pretty good but I think next time I will use less sugar. I didn't melt the butter, instead I cut it into the flour/sugar mixture which turned out ok. I don't think I used the right kind of apples as they lost their texture, but my family really liked it. I will probably try this again.

Baked Haddock

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2008
My family LOVES this recipe. I never seem to make enough. Make sure to put the fish on a wire rack inside of your pan, otherwise the bottoms get soggy. The fish is always flaky. This recipe is part of our "regulars" Thanks a bunch for sharing it.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2007
This pie was fabulous. I did add cinnamon between the layers of apples. Also like another review suggested, next time I will mix some of the sauce with the apples and then top off with the remainder. Everyone loved this pie! Thanks for sharing this recipe.

Hockey Pucks

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2007
I absolutely love this recipe. I used chocolate almond bark instead of the chocolate chips. It seems to melt better for me and it reheats nicely when the bark starts to get hard. For a smooth coat just use a fork and after dipping, gently tap the side of your bowl. they are fabulous. My family has me make these every year.
