I was born and raised in New Orleans, a city where good food and cooking are some of the most important parts of our culture. I love this, and take every opportunity to cook good food and entertain family and friends.
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook most everything. I love seafood.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every year my father makes a HUGE pot of gizzard and seafood gumbo for Mardi Gras day. It is the best gumbo EVER!
My cooking triumphs
I successfully copied one of my favorite dishes from a local restaurant, Dick and Jenny's, for a dinner party. It was a goat cheese, cranberry and pinenut stuffed pork loin with a balsamic honey reduction.
My cooking tragedies
There was a lemon meringue pie that I made in the 8th grade that I will never speak of again!!!

Oyster and Cornbread Dressing
I have been making this for years, but friends don't let friends use canned oysters. I use fresh Louisiana oysters and some fine chopped liver and gizzard.

Simple Baked Apples
Yum! I used candied pecans and dried cranberries instead of raisins and walnuts, but I am sure it would be awesome either way!!

Sweet Pork Slow Cooker Chili
I made this yesterday for the Saints game with the following changes...I used 1lb. of turkey instead of 2lb of pork and I used the pinapple juice from the can instead of the hard apple cider. It was SOOOOO GOOD!!! I will make this again and again!
