Onion Rice

Garlic adds a better dimension to this great dish. Even my husband, who is a real meat and potato man, has asked that I make this again. Use brown rice, according to the package directions, and it's healthier. Top with a sprinkling of shredded cheddar.

This is a 'Depression' dish. In our family it's called Goolash but it's exactly the same. To make it healthier, I drain the meat and lightly rinse with hot water. Whole grain noodles or pasta helps too. We love it a little spicier than this so I use 1 large can of diced tomatos AND 1 can of Rotel or the equivilant. My father sprinkled the top of with raw, chopped onions and my husband does the same and adds shredded or shaker cheese. Be creative!

Unbelievable Chicken

Altogether too sweet, even tho I cut the brown sugar to 1/2 C. The rest of the recipe is worth saving but I'll have to do some thinking about it before I try it again. Even our young, sweet-toothed grandaughters didn't care of it.

Best Burger Ever

This takes the blah out of burgers! I didn't have all the ingrediants required so I improvised a bit. Instead of ot pepper sauce, I used 1 tsp chili powder and 1 tsp crushed red peppers. Instead of rolled oats, I used 1/2 C Italian bread crumbs. 2tsp. of water makes this mixture a little easier to knead into the ground meat, and just because I have a husband, I added 1 tsp bacon bits. As long as there's bacon in anything, he loves it. Is that a man-thing? Aeven out granddaughters loved these burgers!

Balsamic Marinated Chicken Breasts

We were so sick of tasteless chicken that when this came into my email as a new recipe, I just had to try it. I didn't have the rosemary nor the parsley flakes but I had everything else. It has a tang and wonderful taste that is completely different. My husband has already asked when I will make this again. Soon, honey.
