My favorite things to cook
New Recipes. The first time making something is always the toughest. If you've made something 10 times it's almost a mindless activity. But even the simplest recipe that you've never made before is a detailed and difficult process. Trying so hard to perfect something you've never "practiced" before is thrilling.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Grandma was born and raised in the south. You wont ever see her look at the nutritional information, count calories or worry about carbohydrates. It's sometimes ridiculously unhealthy but everything she touches in the kitchen comes out delicious. I try to emulate that. I enjoy cooking and eating and don't want to ruin a good dish by trying to cut a couple calories.
My cooking triumphs
I've taken a few recipes from this site and made them my own, perfected them to my taste. Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili, Chicken Pot Pie IX, and Brown Sugar Meatloaf are my favorites. I LOVE making these dishes and everyone I feed them to LOVES to eat them. :)
My cooking tragedies
The one thing that stands out to me as a tragedy was my attempt at making a cake by following an Alton Brown recipe. I'm not sure what happened, where I went wrong... but oh it turned out SO wrong. That, and the time I set a cookbook on fire by setting it on a burner and then turning the burner on. :/
