English Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2011
I made this recipe 3 times each using the right amount of flour. (even using a digital scale) Each time the dough came out verystiff, did not rise well, and the muffins were dense. I don't know if it was me or the recipe. The fourth time I used about half the flour. Much better! wetter dough causes the muffin to be more chewy with more of those yummy holes for the butter to go!

Salad Dressing Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2011
Right out of the oven this cake has a gummy texture and bland flavor. As it sits the cake gets much better and it becomes a moist, yummy cake. I also feel it needed more cocoa. I used a 9 by 9 pan for the entire recipe and it made an even 1 inch layer.

Lentil Soup with Lemon

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2011
I wanted so badly for this soup to be grand, but instead I found it bland. I used the right ingredients and followed the directions. Unfortunately, it was boring. It might have been the brand of stock I used. I ended adding more chili powder and some soy sauce to bring out the flavor.

Cake Mixes from Scratch and Variations

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2010
As the recipe is written, it's not very good. The cake was dense and tough. However, it was so fast to make! With some changes, it was phenominal. I didn't think it would turn out, but it did. You must sift the flour before measuring, or only use 2 cups instead of 2 1/3 cups. So it might be a problem in our American measuring system which go by volume and not by actual mass.

WOW! I honestly cried when I pulled these cookies from the oven and told everyone in my house to come look at them. They are traditionally delicious and beautiful.

Boiled Bagels

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2010
These turned out loveley-looking and were easy to make, but I wasn't impressed by the flavor. The all-purpose flour and no oil made it taste and feel like homemade bread. I love homemade bread, but I was expecting a slightly different flavor.

My roomate loved these! I loved them becuase they required such little ingrediants, which is valuable to a college dorm student. Followed the recipe but used strawberry jam because that's all I had. Delish!

I'm not a huge fan of maple/cinnamon-y things, but all of my friends loved the recipe. I used my dads homemade maple syrup. Delectable!

I accidentally left out the baking powder but added a hint of orange juice for flavor. They still turned out delicious-with or without frosting.

French Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2008
Yum! To avoid bread that can be pulled apart like a cinnomon roll, lightly coat the top side of the dough with water before rolling it into a loaf. Let the bread rise for a long time on the sheet and you'll get delicious french style bread! Thanks for the recipe!
