Habanero Pepper Cream Pasta

This was very tasty. If you like spicy pasta dishes you will love it. We doubled it to have some leftovers to save, probably shouldn't have doubled the habanero because it was VERY hot, but luckily we like spicy so it wasn't a disaster. It is clearly not the healthiest dish but could easily be made with some substituted healthier ingredients. We steamed some broccoli to a soft state and added it as a topping - made a great flavor combo. Also, we used bowtie pasta (faralle) instead and it looked nice as well as tasted good.

Vegetarian Phad Thai

This was OK, but like many other reviewers I would say to cut WAY down on the peanut butter and cut back on the brown sugar. It was overwhelmingly peanut-y and a bit sweet for my tastes. Also, I say save the raw chopped/ground peanuts to sprinkle on top at the end. Otherwise would be good with a bit of tweaking.

Fire and Ice Pasta

This was OK. We kind of made it by accident thinking it was something else. We left out the black olives (personal taste) and added extra bell peppers and fresh tomatoes. It wasn't bad, but I didn't love it chilled.

Chicken Enchiladas I

These come out great - one of my bf's favorites. We usually go heavy on the onion, and add some chopped hot peppers of whatever kind we have around - green chiles, red, whatever your taste. And we usually end up using more cheese - sprinkled within and on top. So tasty!

Taco Seasoning I

Easier Chicken Marsala

So quick and easy! We added fresh garlic, onions (about 1 medium onion, chopped) and extra mushrooms to the mix while cooking. The onions carmelized nicely and the whole thing served over angel hair pasta was delicious!

Jalapeno-Garlic-Onion Cheeseburgers

Delicious! Tasty with a bit of a kick. If you don't like onions or spicy stuff go for a different burger, but if you do these are just right. You can adjust the amount of peppers, just don't overdo the onions or the burgers won't stay together well. Great on whole wheat buns.

Stuffed Peppers with Turkey and Vegetables

These were OK. We used fresh chopped garlic instead of garlic powder and added some red pepper flakes for kick. I also stuffed some cheese in the top of each pepper after stuffing. It seemed like the green pepper itself was still a little too raw at these cooking times. Next time we will cook it longer and maybe switch to another color bell pepper. The taste of the filling was good though.

Ruth's Grandma's Pie Crust

Delicious crust. I've used it for several pie recipes from this site. I'm not skilled with pies or crusts so I usually don't end up with quite enough for 2 whole pies, but I'm sure if you know what you are doing with dough, you can get that. The taste is perfect and flaky every time!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

This was the best apple pie. I added cinnamon and nutmeg (to taste) to the mixture and used Ruth's Grandma's Pie Crust recipe for the crust. Fantastic.

Indian Style Basmati Rice

This rice was fantastic. We started it up then went on to cook an Indian dish while it was going. The timing was great and the rice was an awesome compliment to the chicken dish we made. Just like a restaurant, and the rice smell filling up the kitchen was great! One thing we added was a handful of yellow raisins from the Indian store. They added just the right amount of additional surprising bites of sweetness. Mmm!

Chicken and Pasta in a Mango Cream Sauce

I love mango so that was my favorite part of this recipe. It was really delicious fresh, although just very slightly bland. The flavor didn't keep well for leftovers. Next time I would cut the onions differently as the ring shapes were a bit awkward both for cooking and eating. I suggest adding a little more pepper, maybe an additional yellow bell pepper. But overall it was not bad. I would make it again with a few small adjustments.

Sweet Restaurant Slaw

I made this over the 4th of July. The grocery store was out of bagged coleslaw mix, so I substituted shredded lettuce and red cabbage in the amounts called for. One thing I should have added and forgot would have been some shredded carrots. Overall this recipe was great - the only thing I would change next time would be to halve the amount of suger - it was just a little too sweet for me. Otherwise delicious! Much better than the decorative diner slaw. :)

Chicken Kabobs Mexicana

We made this for the 4th of July this year. We increased the recipe by adding one extra chicken breast, doubling the marinade and increasing the veggies accordingly. We loved the marinade, it was great. The onions carmelized nicely and the veggies were good. The only negative I thought was that the tomatoes kind of split and peeled and didn't taste that great (and were much hotter than everything else - be careful!), but maybe we had the heat wrong for them. I would substitute a different veggie for them next time or maybe stick fresh ones on the skewers at the end of cooking.

Portobello Mushroom Burgers

These were quick, easy and tasty. One change I would make is to close the mushrooms up in a plastic bag for 10-15 minutes (maybe a little less so they don't get soggy) with the marinade touching them as much as possible - they didn't soak up a whole lot based on the volume and setup in the recipe. I grilled them on my Foreman grill and kept spooning the marinade over them from time to time. We also grilled some onion slices to add on top. Came out very tasty. I recommend trying Swiss cheese and whole wheat buns.

Actually Delicious Turkey Burgers

These were really good turkey burgers - my bf loved them. We cut down on the salt slightly and increased the black pepper (just personal taste), and the bead crumbs I chose were also garlic and herb flavored. We cooked these on the grill, so I added a little more bread crumbs to make sure they would stick together (probably would have without them). We added a slice of provolone and condiments to taste, and served on whole wheat buns. Delicious! I think the suggestions in other reviews to use seasoning salt and/or Worcestershire sauce would bump these up to a 5-star rating for sure.

We have made this twice now and my bf and I love it. We made a few changes - I substitute an orange bell pepper for green and add some fresh garlic. I prefer to use small chopped mushrooms in place of the black olives, and add a few red pepper flakes for some kick. Also, we upped it to 3-4 eggs depending on size. I think that if you put layers of cheese in between layers of pasta (instead of just on top) before cooking, the final dish has a little more structure and doesn't fall apart when you go for leftovers the next day. This is a great meal and makes a lot of food.
