About this Cook
My beloved sainted grandmother taught me most of what I know about cooking and my attitude towards food and serving others in my family/community. I love cooking and trying new recipes. I do not consider myself an 'expert' even after 40+ years, but I certainly am an enthusiastic, adventurous, advanced intermediate. LOL. Cooking, for me, has an aura of Zen.
My favorite things to cook
Bread, quick breads, pies and some cakes. I do a lot of casseroles which are inexpensive.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Turkeys for the holidays. DH loves the cuisine of his home Quebec, so I get to do tortieres, sugar pies, etc. The first time he told me what a tortiere was, I said, "oh, hamburger pie." He was quite offended. LOL
My cooking triumphs
Aggression bread rolls (definitely NO Zen there - but great rolls), mock Black Forest cake, quickie cheesecakes, healthy muffins from scratch
My cooking tragedies
No one died yet, so none of it has been tragic.

Honey Of An Oatmeal Bread
tried with 1c ww + 1-1/3c ubleached white on a medium crust setting. Took out of pan & let cool on wire rack for 20 minutes before slicing. It is the first time I used my Black & Decker bread machine after owning it for 3 years and I love this recipe; DH wants it w/o the rolled oats next time but still likes it. Thanks everyone!!! I love the reviews.
