About this Cook
Daughter of Kentucky born and raised parents. I did not step foot in a grocery store until I was 10 years old, didn't even know there was such a thing. If we did not raise it ourselves or barter for it we did not eat it. (Except at church of course)
My favorite things to cook
OMG!Pork Steaks w/sweet onion gravey, mashed potatoes, mustard greens, cornbread and home made pickles.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Southern, right down to my big bottom!!!
My cooking triumphs
Introducing folks to the finer points of Southern cooking. Watching their faces go from mistrust to, "OMG" when tasting a dish they have never dared to try. i.e. Fried apples, southern cooked yellow summer squash, chicken gizzards w/dumplings, etc.
My cooking tragedies
Setting the oven on fire when the bottom of the foil pan tore out of Thanksgiving turkey.

Hamburgers and Ketchup Gravy
Made this for dinner last week, it was very easy and quick. I would add an egg or two also, the patties were a little loose. However, hubby loved it for dinner and our dog Hank loved a little for his breakfast. Will make it again soon. :-)

Cream Cheese Chocolate Chip Bars
I like the taste and blend of the crust ingredients. However, the topping was too thin and would not set after baking. I would suggest baking the crust/chocolate chips, p/nut butter chips first then after cooling add a cream cheese topping, maybe Cool Whip and cream cheese/sugar blended together. Maybe shave some chocolate on top for ganish or sprinkle w/mini-chips.
