I just used butter in place of the shortening (so 1c. butter total), baked them for about 11 minutes and they were still nice and soft when they cooled off. I love the cloves in this cookie, but may increase the amount used next time as you can not taste it as distinctly once the cookie is baked. If you think this implies that I tried it in dough form as well....then you'd be correct :) You just can't resist! Will definitely make these again.
