Baked Potato Soup V

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2011
True, the last baked potato soup recipe you'll need! I used two huge baking potatoes, halved the remaining ingredients, and omitted sour cream (because I was out) and it was delicious! The only thing I don't get is the 1+ hr prep time-this is fast, easy and wonderful!

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2011
Try this-you will love them!!! Out of necessity I used part margarine and oil in place of butter. I HALVED the recipe and used 1/2c margarine, and 1/4c veg oil, and halved remaining ingredients. They are so good! I cook them until the edges are slightly golden, and they STAY SOFT are delicious, and hold their shape well. My kids go crazy for them. I use the sugar cookie icing recipe from this site with powdered sugar, corn syrup and milk.

Santa's Whiskers I

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2010
I have been making these for years also. I have never had a problem with the dough, but my version calls for ONLY 3/4 CUP BUTTER. I always use real butter and freeze the logs overnight or longer before baking for easier slicing. I also substitute chopped maraschino cherries (drained on paper towels) for the candied ones. I may try cranberries one reviewer used. The BEST part of the cookie for my family is the FINAL STEP I added. After cooling drizzle dark chocolate in one direction over the cookies and then white chocolate in another direction. It adds a lot to the taste and makes the cookies beautiful!

Rolled Buttercream Fondant

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2009
I did use butter instead of shortening (like some others did with great results), but this was a disaster for me! It came together nicely, and was smooth, but fell completely apart when I tried to roll it. I added more powdered sugar 2X thinking it would help. It would have worked only for something small like cupcakes. If I try it again I will try to refridgerate before rolling.

Greek Pasta with Tomatoes and White Beans

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2009
Based on the reviews, and ingredients I had on hand a made a couple of simple changes, and the dish was fantastic! I sauteed 2 cloves of garlic in a little olive oil, and used crushed tomatoes (not italian style, but added some italian seasoning). I am not a big meat eater, though you could easily add chicken. I made this a couple of days ago, and just writing this review is making me crave this dish-LOVE IT!

Giant Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2009
I cut this recipie in half, left out the nuts, and baked it in an 8X8 square pan. It was so good! The cookie was about 2 times the thickness of a store bought giant cookie, a little fluffier than a regular cookie, but not too cake like, and soft (even the edges). Will definately be making this one again and again.

Best White Icing Ever

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2009
Great consistency for decorating! I used all butter instead of shortening. Be sure the butter is at room temp, and beat on high for a couple of minutes. Fluffy, sweet and delicious.

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2008
I just made this, and am so excited! This reminds me of the icing on the sugar cookies at a bakery when I was growing up. It smooths out and dries beautifully. The only negative is it doesn't make much, so double the recipe. I made it the first time and had to add an additional 1 tsp of corn syrup. I ran out, and quickly made another batch. This time I didn't have any extract, so I substituted 1 tsp of fresh lemon juice. The consistency and taste of the second batch was the best.

Easy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2008
Just like it says, easy, soft and very tasty with or without icing. My 4yr old wants to bake cookies all the time, so I often 1/2 recipies. I wasn't sure what to do about the 1 egg, so I used the whole egg, the full 1 tsp of vanilla, and added a pinch of salt (I thought it was strange that it wasn't called for). The results were perfect!

Scalloped Potatoes and Onions

I didn't change a thing. They were sooo rich and creamy, my family couldn't believe they were made with chicken broth and not half & half!

Whipped Cream Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2008
I didn't have any cream, so I used whipped topping in place of the first step. So easy, and it turned out great!

Fluffy White Frosting

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2008
I always rely on the ratings before making a recipie, but I don't understand the high marks for this one. It was easy, fluffy and shiny but not tasty. If you like uncooked merrange, this is the recipie for you.
