Prize-Winning Meatloaf

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2011
I am an oatmeal filler convert! I was convinced breadcrumbs were the only way to go. This was moist and flavorful and wasn't sitting in a bath of liquid when finished. Loved it!

Marinade for Steak I

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2011
This was very good and will make again soon. I followed the recipe but used fresh garlis infused olive oil instead of vegetable. I also included a few lamb chops in the marinade with the steak and both were great!!

Lemonade Cake I

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2011
This was a great recipe for a warm summer night. Easy to make a day or so ahead of time, kept in the freezer, and frost the morning to be served. I used Cool Whip as others suggested but it got a funnny texture when I added the lemonade. I think I would just add flavoring next time. It was still very good and enjoyed by all. Thank you!!

Bellepepper's Orzo and Wild Rice Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2011
I made a double batch and it was WONDERFUL!! I thought it would be too labor intensive to do on a day I was entertaining but heeded Bellepepper's suggestion to cook the orzo and rice ahead of time, freeze, and toast the nuts a few days before. I assembled the day before entertaining, ended up adding leftover chicken to half of it that night for an easy dinner (hubs loved it and DD took the leftovers home) and served the other half to company the next night (the gals asked to please share the recipe, that's a great compliment!). I did save the nuts and parsley and added just before serving both times. Thanks, BP! This will definitely be made again soon!! Maybe after I finish the leftovers for lunch! :)

Orange Sangria

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2011
Saveur served this at the Buckeye Gathering and I enjoyed it very much. I served this to a few guests and subbed Grand Marnier for the brandy. It was enjoyed by all! Thank you! / UPDATE: I have made this several times and I never use the ginger ale. I just add some club soda when served.

Marinated Flank Steak with Horseradish Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2011
Wow! Another stellar recipe by Saveur! I enjoyed this at the Buckeye gathering and even more recently. I often prep meats in marinade and freeze them for easy prep for the grill in the summer. My stepson was late for dinner last night and I kept his dinner in the warming drawer worried it was going to be overdone and dried out. He came to me later asking what it was. He said it was the "the bomb" and the best steak he's ever eaten (and he's pretty picky!). Look forward to grilling the other one waiting in the freezer. Thanks for sharing, Savvy!

Layered Greek Dip

Reviewed: May 31, 2011
This is amazing! Everyone loved it! I followed the recipe but drizzled Extra Virgin Olive Oil over the top. Use fresh feta and English cucumber if you can. I served this Memorial Day (yesterday) and am making it again today for our book club. Thank you, great recipe!

Wow, these were wonderful! Followed the recipe but used canola oil instead of butter and added 1 teaspoon vanilla. Great recipe! Thank you!

Greek Pasta Salad

Reviewed: May 23, 2011
Absolutely LOVED this! I added artichoke hearts, used kalamata olives instead of black and twice the amount of cucumber and feta. I also used Sweet Cherry Peppers (not as much)instead of Green and Red. The dressing is amazing. Actually, I'm not a pasta salad lover and I will be making this again and again this summer. Thank you! Thank you!

Home-Style Vegetable Beef Soup

Reviewed: May 17, 2011
So easy! Hubs even commented how good it was! I must admit, I cheated and added 3 cups of frozen mixed vegetables instead of canned and carrots. Pulled this together in a "minute" for an easy, yummy meal. Thanks!

Strawberry Ribbon Bread

Reviewed: May 15, 2011
I made this for Recipe Group. So good and my husband said he "loved" it! I followed the recipe exactly with the exception of fresh strawberries and vanilla extract. I sliced them and tossed in a bit of sugar to let them release some moisture. I was concerned as the dough was very sticky but the result was very moist! I have a convection oven and reduced the temp 25 degrees and took it out after an hour. While it was pretty, I don't think I would add nearly all the red food coloring next time. Thank you!

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: May 12, 2011
Another stellar review for this recipe! Very good! I'm not an experienced baker and these turned out great. I used my KA, starting with the paddle ans finishing with the dough hook. I also left them in the frig overnight before the last rise and took them out 30 minutes before baking as Trishie suggested. I didn't use even half of the icing and they were plenty sweet. Thanks! Great recipe!

Marzetti® Coconut Breaded Chicken with Crunchy Fruit Sauce

Reviewed: May 1, 2011
The flavor was good on this but I expected a bit more crunchy crust. I even did them on a rack. The dipping sauce was very good but not sure it was the best choice for coating the chicken in first. Something about the chicken seemed bland.

Quiche Lorraine I

Reviewed: May 1, 2011
Outstanding! I made this exactly except using some other's suggestion to use 1 1/2 cups cream. Not sure it made that much difference with my pie plate but it was really wonderful! Made it Sunday morning with fresh fruit and hubby commented it was a perfect brunch menu! Thank you!

Blueberry Pound Cake

Reviewed: May 1, 2011
Update: i did make this as written and it doesn't get any better than this! So moist and delicious! //// This was wonderful!! I followed the recipe to the letter with the exception of using strawberries (needed to use them up) and using a bundt pan. I left the berries, cut in smaller pieces on a papertowel to absorb moisture and then followed recipe to toss in flour. Will be making this again with blueberries or other fruits for my husband who loves sweet cakes and breads. He even remarked how much he liked the sugary "crust". I did wrap this in saran as it cooled to keep in the moisture. Thank you!

Mexican Blackened Corn

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2011
I made this for Recipe Group. It was very good! Next time, I would use a HOT cast iron skillet. I used a Cuisinart Stainless pan with just a touch of oil and just didn't get the blacken results, though it browned nicely. The flavor was great, however, I used 1/2 the cayenne called for and that provided enough heat for me. Cotija was not available so I used a Mexican blend. Thanks! Nice side to compliment any Mexican dish!
