Cajun gal raised in Texas. 5 boys, all grown. All love to cook. Also a Grandmother of 5 granddaughters & 1 grandson, another grandchild on the way. I came from a large family, 5 of us kids. But my dad was 1 of 11, so I have lots of cousins, 38. And thats just one side of my family. Lots of big family reunions. Cooked big meals for so long, now learning to scale down. Its just my hubby and I, except when I take care of my grandson. So now I only cook or bake large amounts for special occasions. Even though I said my cooking level is expert I'm always needing to learn something new. At the moment it is how to cook healthier and still taste like the midwest/southern meals my hubby likes. My dream is to bake like a pastry chef and make candy like a chocolatier.
My favorite things to cook
All kinds of baking. Candy making at holidays. Pork loin and beef roast for my husband. Caujun food is my favorite, of course,(that wasn't listed in the food interest selections). Slow cooking is the best for a busy person. Keeps kitchen cool.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Grillin' and chillin' with my boys. Gumbo for New Year's Eve and family reunions. Baking and candy making at holidays.
My cooking triumphs
Baking my grandmothers old fashion cake recipes. Teaching my boys to cook and not be afraid in the kitchen, to be inventive. Three of them want to someday own some kind of food business.
My cooking tragedies
Too many to think of. I've been cooking since I could stand on a chair in the kitchen with my mother and grandmother, 50+ years.
